So after one hour my glucose was 130. My doctor said normal is under 140 but they recently started using 130 as their number so Im now borderline. I have to go for the three hr test. Anyone else have to do this? Any advice?
I have to also. Sounds like my numbers were the worst too because my sugar level after the first test was 164. It was at 4 in the afternoon and I really didn't eat much throughout the day - just some chicken for protein. I am hoping that's the reason but I know it's probably wishful thinking! Does anyone know why you would get GD on one pregnancy but not the one before?

I'm back with more... I just talked to my doctor and she said to eat a regular sized candy bar every day for three days before the 3 hour test to get your body used to so much sugar.
This sounds so weird to me!

That's crazy. If 140 is the cut off and you scored 130, you passed. If they aren't going to listen to the results, then why have you take the test at all! I would be pissed. >:( I'm sorry!
I was a one hour failure at 165. I took that fasting, which I guess may have been a mistake. I took my three hour this morning and am awaiting results. I wasn't given specific advice on what or what not to eat the days before. I ate plenty of carbs yesterday and over the weekend.
I have to do the 3 hour test on Monday morning. My OB doesn't actually offer the 1 hour test because he says and has backed up with literature they the 3 hour test is more accurate. Not looking forward to it, but I'm hoping it isn't too bad.

I just found out I failed my 1 hour test (a 177 like others here). Boo
My OB just told me I needed to do the 3 hour test before my next appointment (in four weeks). It seems odd they don't want me to do it sooner, but oh well. I'll probably do it in two weeks when I can take a whole morning off of work.
ETA: @DJS0312 My OB's office uses 130 as their cutoff.
I failed by 2 pathetic points. A 142. I took the 3 hour, which was fasting. It sucked a LOT, but I passed.
The candy bar thing is weird. Seems to me either your body can handle it- or it can't.
Good luck!
Same here, I got a 142 and the doctor said that since the cutoff was 140, they were obligated to do the 3 hour test to be on the safe side. Thankfully, I passed the 3 hour test, the only bad part was passing the time.
I agree the that candy bar thing sounds like odd advice.

I took mine fasting too because the doctor had said I could have a breakfast at 6am and I didn't want to get up that early. Now I wish I had eaten because I know the not eating thing was an issue.
My 1 hr was 151 and my office uses a 135 cut-off for the 3 hour test. I talked to a friend who is a nurse and she said most of the women referred to a 3-hour test will pass it. My test is on Friday morning and she said to avoid refined sugar on Thursday, but that I shouldn't cut out things like carbs today because I would shock my system into a higher number when I drink the glucose. She suggested that I just try to be sure that the carbs I have today and tomorrow are high fiber and that tomorrow I should have more veggies over fruit because the sugars in them are different.
Also, I can have water up to when I take the test. She suggested that I make sure that I am well hydrated before the test (going in slightly dehydrated can artificially spike glucose readings) and to make sure that I have water in my stomach when I go in.
