Trouble TTC

Starting to question RE...

Maybe I blog too much but I'm starting to question my RE who I thought was going to be great...

My lining last cycle was 6.4mm on cd12..and neither the tech nor the RE said anything about it being thin..so I didn't either. However, I of course went home and researched myself only to find out it was thin like I suspected.
My period this cycle is light...no cramps...which is very abnormal. Typically my cramps are horrific and I am constantly in the bathroom changing tampons with a pad as backup.
Is my light period due to a thin lining? Does anyone have suggestions on how to thicken the lining? Or am I totally wrong and 6.4 isn't that bad?

Re: Starting to question RE...

  • 6.4 is pretty thin if you have a mature follicle and are about to trigger. My RE wants to see my lining at preferably 8, but 6 is their absolute lowest. Mine was only about 7mm this cycle, but that was about 36 hours before I ended up triggering, so it had a little more time to build up. They didn't start me on estrogen for 7mm lining though. Maybe ask the question what they do for thin lining, and when they consider it too thin. I would think they would either put you on estrogen or put you on something other than Clomid next cycle if your lining is too thin. I think it might be ok, depending on the timing of your trigger, but it would definitely be worth asking some questions.

  • I would thing that yes, your light period was related to your thin lining. I do think that 6.4 is pretty thin but maybe at CD12 it's too late to do anything about it?  I would definitely request an estrogen supplement for your next cycle and hopefully they will be making that part of your protocol of their own accord.  My previous cycle the nurse noted that my lining was thinner than what it had been before then so this last cycle I had an estrogen patch from CD8-15.  It didn't give me the world's greatest lining but it was an 8 on CD13 which they consider to be ok.  I definitely don't want to do another Clomid cycle for that very reason.

  • I'm on clomid and my lining was only about 6.5mm at my CD10 u/s. I asked and my RE called it "still good." I was a little concerned because, even that early in my cycle, I usually measure around 8-9mm. He assured me it would thicken as my follies grew. Sure enough, CD14 I was back up to 8mm. He said 6.5mm is the lowest they would've allowed me to trigger with.

Did you have mature follicles at your ultrasound?

@AnnaClaire256‌ yes...I had 2 on cd12 and 1 that they said would "catch up" by the time I ovulated. Mine was 6.4 at cd12 and idk what it was at cd14
because we were TI not iui so I was not monitored that day. I just feel like 6.4 at cd12 is thin and maybe that's my problem! I've been looking up ways to naturally thicken my lining...I may try that this month...

I've heard of several people that swear by drinking raspberry leaf tea. I've also heard people talk about Brazil nuts and maca root. All fertility super foods so I guess they couldn't hurt!

  • I've always heard how heavy your period is or lack there of has nothing to do with your lining. Then again no clue. I'm no expert at lining issues.

Isn't pomegranate juice also supposed to thicken your lining?

Sorry you feel unsure about your RE's judgment. I am just know getting out of my "bad doctor" situation, and it really sucks to feel like you have to double-check everything your doctor says.

  • I'm not sure about the light periods thing but that is something I have been feeling concerned about (mine have gotten much lighter in the last few years, so now I get at most 2 days of medium to light bleeding). I am anxious to ask at our post-testing consult Monday, and find out if the RE would bypass Clomid for that reason. I also want to ask if he sees any harm in trying this raspberry leaf tea. Hope you get your answers, and that your lining thickens right up and proves your RE right! :)

So I just spoke to the nurse...expressed my concerns.  She said that my RE isn't typically concerned about the lining unless it falls under 5.  She said my lining at 6.4 was fine but that and the clomid is typically why my period is lighter this cycle.  I was on clomid before...but a lesser dosage so maybe that is why?  Either way I'm going to try to thicken it naturally...found this awesome blog so I'm going to try what this girl did...
