  They actually don't give SIN cards anymore. They only issue the letter. Apparently it saves them a dollar - so dumb. So you have to save the letter someplace safe.
  
  We have received our letter too but no Health Card yet. I remember it took a long time for DD 1's Health Card too, about 6-8 weeks I think - and then they made an error and we had to have it redone.

  I'm in Quebec and we got her health insurance card and SIN card in the mail at 3 weeks.

  We just got ours this week (3 weeks old). Do you have the registration bundle thing where you register the birth and apply for everything at once?

  I live in Alberta and received the health card but for the sin card we just got the number no card.

  According to the service canada website, they only stopped issuing sin cards on march 31st.

  This is what happened to us with DD1's health card. Luckily her other stuff was fine. Her name is Olivia and they actually issued the Health Card as Dlivia. As if someone wouldn't have caught that?!
