  When I signed up for blogger, I signed up as 'Jane D' instead of 'Jane Doe'.  So my last name doesn't show up. 

  I can't remember how to put the 'about me' on the main page(I think you just use the 'Layout' tab and add it there) because I bought a premade layout for my blog  so I haven't used the 'Layout' stuff in a while .  You could create an 'about me' page and add a picture there too.

  I had one for my classroom last year. A lot of the cool stuff is in the layout section. My suggestion is just to play with everything for a while before you tell anyone about the blog. I had a lot of fun messing with different lay outs and widgets.
