December 2011 Moms

Two Thing Tuesday

1. If you had been given $10,000 when you were 21, what would you have done with it? What would you do with it now? Have you ever been given a large sum of money?

2. Does your house have enough closet space in it?

Yup, I know I'm random today. I never said I'd make sense! :)

    1. We were planning a wedding when I was 21, so I probably would have put part of it towards a lavish honeymoon and part of it towards our mortgage. We went to the Bahamas for 4 days and it was pretty perfect, but I'm sure we could have come up with something cooler! Now, we would probably use it towards our mortgage. I've never been given a large sum of money. I got $100 for helping my mom clean her house last year… Don't think that counts.

    2. Our main floor has too many closets. I wish there would have been less closets and more living space. We could use just a couple extra feet in every room. Too late now.

  • 1. 21?? Towards booze and clothes I am sure. I partied 5-6 nights a week and spent as much as I could on new clothes. My parents gave us $7k towards our wedding and we used all of it for the reception.
    2. Nope. I would love to have his and hers closets.

  • 1. At 21 I'd have furnished my apartment with things other than hand-me-downs and blown a lot of it on clothes. Now I'd put it into a kitchen renovation or possibly a kick-ass vacation. I've never been given a large some of money, other than wedding gifts.

    2. We have a decent number of closets, but none of them are particularly big.

I was actually given a good amount of money at that age (70K I think??) and I was forced to save it and use it towards college or a house (it was from my grandfather and that was his stipulation) so I did just that.  I used some of it for our down payment on our house 5 years ago and the rest I paid for (part of) my pharmacy school tuition.  If I was given 10K with no stipulations at age 21 I probably would have bought clothes and purses.  If I was given 10K now I would probably put it towards what's left of my student loans.

    2. Does your house have enough closet space in it?

My house was built in 1970 so not really.  We do have a pantry and a closet across from my washer and dryer but my linen closet and my master closet are TINY.

  • 1. At 21 I would have probably spent the money on wedding or honeymoon stuff. Or housing after we got married. We were pretty broke so that money would have been nice.  Now I want to hire a designer to redo our master bathroom. We have the money to do it (without designer) but I don't have the time or the energy.
    2. Our closets are good but we really need a pantry.

    We need a pantry too!
