Nolan is here!

Nolan Wesley was born on May 9 at 4:42 pm.  He was 8 lb 6 oz and 21 inches long.  My water broke on Thursday night around 11:30.  I got up to pee and then when I laid back down and was turning over, I felt a gush of fluid.  We called the doctor and they told us to head to the hospital.  DH was frantic and trying to hurry, even though I told him there wasn't a rush because I wasn't having many contractions.  I took time to take a shower (he hated that) and we got to the hospital shortly after midnight.

When we got there, they were completely full, so I had to start out in a recovery room.  I was dilated to a 3 and was 90% effaced.  Finally, around 5:30 am, a labor and delivery room opened up and they moved me down there.  They started my IV and gave me some pain medication.  When they checked around 8:30 am, I was still at a 3, so they decided to start pitocin.  I also went ahead and got my epidural around 10 am and when they checked was 5 cm and 100% effaced.

They checked again at 1 and I was up to a 6.5.  Then at 2 was at a 9 and finally reached a 10 and +2 station around 2:45.  Shortly after this, I was able to being pushing.  I had to push for over 2 hours and the epi was wearing off.  I was getting really upset because I felt like he was never going to come out!  Finally when I thought I just couldn't do anymore, he came out and came out quickly!  DH cut the cord and I was able to hold my baby.  It was a rough two hours, but he is so worth it!  All of the nurses were incredible, but I don't think I could've done it without my delivery nurse!  She was amazing!

He is just perfect!  He had some bruising due to being in the birth canal so long (and a really cone shaped head that has gone down a lot since then!), so he had a little jaundice.  They said the bruise healing would release bilirubin into his bloodstream, so they had us do the bili blanket at home for the past three days.  He finally gets to stop today!  I can't even express how much I love him!
