Dry shampoo

Since everyone here has recommended great products in the past, I need a recommendation. I have really thin hair that gets super oily quickly, so I typically wash my hair every day. Since I feel like I need to find more time in my day somehow, I'd like to try to wash it every other day or so.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good dry shampoo? I've tried a couple in the past that I just didn't like and I don't want to waste money trying lots of brands! I need some personal suggestions!

Thanks!

Re: Dry shampoo

  • I've bought a couple that I found are so so but nothing wonderful. I find my bang gets really greasy and the best trick I have found is to use powder. I'm not sure if all powder is created equal but I bought a bag of that edible powder stuff from one of those sensuality parties years ago and it works like a charm. I put the powder in my bang every second day and blow dry it out for a second so my hair isn't white. I still tend to wash it every day if I'm going somewhere important, but I'm also working on breaking that habit. All I know is that bag of powder has literally lasted me years and I would be lost without it, best 20 dollar purchase ever.

  • I use Dove brand, it's like $4. I've tried the more expensive brands, and they weren't any better.
  • I like the Tresseme spray, right now i'm using the foam and it's just OK. I'm following as well.

  • I have tresseme dry spray right now and it's ok. I have a friend who swears by the fantasia powder and I have some...I'll try it! I wash two days a week and usually need dry shampoo by day four. Team don't wash your hair!!! B-)

  • I have thin oily hair as well but only wash it every 3rd day unless I have something important going on. The less you wash the less oil you produce it will be bad for a while but your body will adjust. That's what my hair dresser told me. I use baby powder or dove dry shampoo, like other pp stated I've tried the more expensive ones and don't get better results. My friend has been raving about the bumble and bumble dry shampoo it comes in shades for blondes, brunettes and redheads. She said it gives your hair amazing volume but makes it very unmanageable. I hate not being able to comb my fingers through my hair so I haven't used it.

  • Thanks for the suggestions!  I tried Tresemme awhile back and didn't love it - it was ok but not great.  When I was pregnant my hair was awesome and I was able to go 2 or 3 days without washing but then after I had N it was back to an oily mess :(.

I really like Dove dry shampoo right now.  I use it the mornings I work out at the gym and it works really well.  Plus, it's cheap!

  • @Western Diva‌ the fantasia kind is what I have too, and as a bonus it smells great. I did try baby powder once and although it worked it wasn't quite as good to me.
