  • We have the Ergo and I think it should work well as long as you have the insert....but my LO is not here yet and I'm a FTM and don't know jack so....

  • @MK1013‌ ...I just used our ergo for the first time today with LO. She's just at 7lbs (the minimum weight for the insert) and fits great with it. I think it's worth the money for it. The insert holds a pillow in the bottom to prop LO up higher and swaddled her snuggly at the same time. Idk how well a blanket would do that.

I'm new to the Ergo and it totally works with the insert on a newborn.  Actually, she has been really fussy and if I pop her in there then she quiets down and sleeps for a good chunk of time and allows me to do stuff.  Also, when I've taken her out of the Ergo she has stayed sleeping in the insert.  I didn't want to move her for fear of waking her up.  It's kind of like a swaddle.  This carrier is so easy to put on and take off compare to the Bjorn that I had gotten as a gift.

ETA: the NB insert is only $25 regularly priced at BRU.  So if you are doing the registry to get the gift card on purchases it might be best to get from there.
@Bliz1712, can I ask which model of the Ergo you have that is easy to get on and off?  I tried on a Bjorn which I thought was more easy to get into/out of but didn't seem as comfortable for baby.  And the Ergo I tried I'm a spazz with getting into!  Also, where exactly does the baby's feet/legs go in the insert?  This is the part I don't understand -- do they just stay bunched in there?  I was looking at the insert but since it doesn't look like there are holes for the baby's legs to come out, I was worried that it might be uncomfortable for the baby to be sitting up on its own folded-up legs?  Sorry, soon-to-be FTM here so apologies if I sound like a total noob...  Thanks!
  • @giggler25 I have the original ergo and just bought it and the insert last night. Tried it out the first time today and it was pretty easy to do. As for positioning the baby in the insert you put them in in a fetal position of sorts. My LO likes having her legs in front of her and crossed at the ankles. If ya looked at her it's how she would look in a swaddle. And I let her kinda have her hands up near her face instead of stuck down inside. So really she's not sitting on her legs but on her bottom with her legs in front against my tummy. If I think of it or if ya still need help I could take a pic and post it on this thread for anyone to see how I did it.

  • I am a FTM and have the ergo with the infant insert- I put dd in it yesterday and felt like her little face was being smothered into my chest... Am I doing something wrong? I kept leaning forward to make sure she was okay and to see her face. Should I turn her head to the side or should she be up higher?
  • Just a PSA- I didn't understand my ergo at all, but there are great videos on youtube on how to use the insert and all that . I haven't tried it with a baby yet, but it was definitely helpful to watch.
