Clingy Pets

So my two dogs are generally pretty anti-social. They love us and will humor us when we demand snuggles but for the most part they have their couch they lay on and they prefer to lay on the cold tile.

I noticed pretty early in my pregnancy that they were being more gentle with me, not jumping on me when I get home etc... But I was sad that I wasn't getting the over protective guard dogs if read about other people have when their pregnant.

Well now at 24 weeks they have activated! Lol. One doesn't let me out of her sight, sleeps in the same room as me when I'm home during the day and the other one ( my baby boy, my first born

has started sitting as close to me as possible. I'm loving it!

Who else is getting extra lovin from their fur kids? Love it or hate it? Think this means they'll love baby just as much as they love you?

Awww how sweet! I went over to my friends house and she was messing with my belly, talking to it really loud trying to "wake up" astrid and her cat came over and laid on top of me and gave her total bitch face. It was so sweet!

Pardon the inch of belly but here's Tink at her everyday post. She has become the feistiest little 10 lb guard dog ever. I'm loving it but just hoping her protection extends to the baby and isn't against him.

My dog has always been a one who stays near me, so I haven't seen much difference in her, however one of our cats has completely changed. She is now attached to me and wants to be close. I am normally surrounded with the dog on one side and now the cat on the other. This is new for her. She has always been affectionate, but would spend her time alone unless you went up to her. She now seeks me out and follows me around. This should be interesting when baby arrives!

Our dog was pretty similar to OP. She has her own agenda and can't be bothered with our desire to pet her. She doesn't seem to be anymore affectionate but at night she will not sleep on her bed anymore or DH's side of the bed. She used to move around some during the night. Now she will only sleep on my side of the bed. Unfortunately she is mostly black and I have bad eye sight (wear contacts) so if I have to get up in the middle of the night I need to look for white spots and try to step over them.

Our dog was a rescue and has separation anxiety so I haven't really noticed her being any more clingy than she normally is, which is a lot, ha ha!

Our cats follow me around the house and will fight for a spot near my belly when I'm on the couch.

During my first tri, I spent a lot of time in bed from feeling really tired and sick. During that time, my dog was always all over me. He's usually a daddy's boy, but he'd ignore him even at nights for me. (It kind of hurt DH's feelings.) I kept wondering if he could tell something was up or if it was because I was just laying around with him all day. Turns out it was because I was laying around with him... as soon as I started feeling better in my second trimester and getting up and doing more, he reverted back to his old ways. At this very moment he's on the recliner curled up by himself as opposed to even bothering to sit on the couch with me. 8-|

My pups are snuggle bunnies before being pregnant. Now they use my belly as a spring board to get to the cat faster!

My smaller dog has decided in the last month she wants to kill my larger dog. They're both females but they've been living together for two years without issues. We've seen vet, trainer, etc. and all we can do to prevent vicious fights right now is keep them separate at all times. So, I'm jealous of the sweetness!

Animals are so special

My Lilly couldn't care less about my pregnancy...she snuggles but they are clearly selfish snuggles. lol. Gus, on the other hand, is my momma's boy and he has been extremely protective and affectionate. He gets really upset if I leave, to the point that he wouldn't even do his business outside because he'd just stare at the door until I let him back in. At least it's warming up so I can go out with him now!

My dog still thinks she's a lap dog, (German shepherd/ rot wieler) so she's pretty big, when she was a puppy I took her everywhere with us and held her all the time. She was ok during my first pregnancy and when DD was born she became an outside dog and she was MISERABLE! Now she's back inside BC DD is old enough. This pregnancy has her all cuddly, she doesn't jump on me anymore when I come home but as soon as I sit down she's trying to crawl up in my lap. And sleeps in the closet in our room she usually sleeps on her pillow bed in the sun room. She's turning into a big baby but its adorable
