2nd Trimester

Anyone else have a dream about their unborn baby yet???

Yesterday I felt real kicks for the first time, so I'm sure psychologically that's what triggered this?  But wanted to run it by the board!

Anyone else started having dreams with their baby in them?  Last night I dreamt I was just walking around, holding him, breastfeeding him.  Clear as day, I could see his face.

Is it weird?  I mean, I know there's no way to know if this is "my" real baby in the dreams, but they just seem so vivid.

Just a fun questions and genuinely interested in hearing others' thoughts--

  • Yes all the time!

  • I had my first actual baby dream about a week ago. Except - in my dream we had twin boys. DH and I picked out great names, and then after I gave birth, I went to work to tell them I'd had the babies early and wouldn't be able to work for a while.

Other than that I've only been pregnant in my dreams. I would like to have more actual baby dreams though - as long as they aren't too weird or disturbing.

@greeneyed_bride - I think that's hilarious! How sweet of family and friends to act totally normal about it :)
  • I had a dream that my doctor gave me an ultrasound when I wasn't scheduled for one.  I was surprised because my husband wasn't there and she said he didn't have to come.  The, she told me the sex of the baby (a boy) and I freaked because I thought everyone would be mad that it wasn't a girl!
  • I have dreams like this ALL the time. I even had a dream one time that I gave birth to a cat... yeah

  • yup :) before we knew it was a boy, I dreamed of the moment the baby was born and laid on my chest. A beautiful boy with lots of dark hair and biiig eyes looking up at me. I keep telling my husband that even though I'm blonde, blue-eyed and pale, I came out with tons of dark hair and I will be very surprised if our baby does not!

  • I had my first one the other day. I dreamt that I had a baby girl but I couldn't hold on to her and she kept slipping out of my arms and I was struggling not to drop her. I'm sure someone would analyze that and say it's likely due to my fear of becoming a mom or losing the baby, but I'm pretty sure I'm just afraid of dropping it.

I've had a bunch of baby dreams since being pregnant. But the one that sticks out the most is when I was trying to nurse the baby and he was sucking so hard, he sucked my nipple off. It was pretty traumatic to say the least. I woke up and checked and sure enough my nipples were in tact...LOL

I think it was because I was reading about breastfeeding before I feel asleep...LOL
  • I've had a few, all of which were of me delivering a baby boy. But I'm expecting a girl so it was weird.
  • Yes, I have had several dreams with baby in it.

  • I did last week. He was perfect and beautiful and hardly cried at all! :) (Although I was a total crap mom and forgot my diaper bag on our trip so he didn't have any food or diapers - just a pacifier. :( WTG MOM!)

DH told me a while back (right before we even got pregnant) that he had a dream about "our son" as a teenager. He said he looked mostly like him, but had my eyes and hair was a little lighter. I thought that was kind of weird since he only ever dreams about guitars and work, lol.

  • I keep dreaming that I am giving birth to twins, but I'm not! Maybe next time around : )
  • I've had a handful of baby girl dreams.. one of them was about me going into early labor and the baby was so tiny.. no baby boy dreams though.  I think it's because everyone keeps saying this is a baby boy, and I've jokingly said that I am spite wishing for a girl so they are all wrong.. maybe I'm not spite wishing after all?

  • I've had dreams that I was in labor this time around, but none about my baby specifically. When I was pregnant with my son, I had a dream that I gave birth to him, and it turned out he was a cat. I was really disappointed that he was a cat instead of a person, but everyone in my dream acted like it was totally normal, so I tried to act happy so they wouldn't all think I was a bad mom who didn't love my cat baby.
    This is, well, totally awesome.

  • I've had zero dreams about the baby.

Which is funny, because the OP's question is one that I've found I get asked a lot - and people seem so disappointed when I tell them no, I haven't had any dreams and no, I don't believe in the OWT that "if you dream you are having a [insert baby's sex] then that means you are having a [whatever sex you dreamed about]".  It's like, if I have a dream where I turn into a superhero and fly around the world, do people expect me to start floating?

On the other hand (when I'm in a less snarky mood) I get it - it's fun to interpret dreams.  Freud had a whole thing going on about it.

  • I've had weird dreams! Normally I don't remember my dreams at all but lately I've been waking up to weird dreams.
I sometimes dream about a baby. Some days it's a girl other days it's a boy. But most of my dreams weird dreams have nothing to do with baby related stuff. Its just really messed up stuff!
I figure it's just hormones going crazy... must be nice for my DH.... not to have a crazy wife during the day, and not so great for me going what the heck? when I wake up in the mornings!
Oh well... only a few more months of crazy dreams left!
