Has anyone else had a kid who's attempting a milestone, and FREAKS OUT if they can't do it rightthissecondnow?

Trying to put DD to bed, and she is screaming the second DH stops holding her hands so she can practice walking. Doesn't want to be comforted, just wants to "walk." I've heard they don't sleep well when practicing a new skill...but at this rate we'll never go to bed. Help? We can wait it out until our bedtime, but she doesn't even want to cuddle!

    This is us lately at bedtime. She just wants to get on the floor so she can pull up on things. I let her play for 15 minutes and then we start again. It's definitely annoying when we need to get some stuff done but it's also cute how excited she gets.

    Good call, @martyn17‌ - DH is taking her on a walk back to her room, and then we'll do Bedtime, Take 2.

    Yep. It's not worth fighting. Like PP, we can usually bring him back downstairs for a bit, let him walk around and then attempt bedtime again and it typically works much better than struggling with him. Luckily it does seem to only be a phase.

    Same boat here, but the practicing skill now is going down from our bed by himself :/

    I've never encountered this. I think i don't realize how lucky I am sometimes that my kid doesn't fight bedtime. Or at least, hasn't yet. That sounds miserable.
