If you had a scheduled c-section

Did family visit that day, or did you ask them to wait?

Mine came that day. Even my preacher came by that day. Didn't bother me because I would fall asleep talking to someone. Good drugs, good drugs. Lol.

My family came that day, though we requested they wait till 12pm (we were scheduled for 8am) to allow for recovery time and bonding. We also told then that I could be bumped to later if an emergency came up so they waited for our call saying it went on time. The first and second days were better visiting days than the 3rd or 4th, IMO.

  • I just had my C on Thursday.  Family came Friday and Saturday.  They didn't stay long though. Nobody came up the first night and I don't think I would have wanted them to.  I barely got to see the babies myself.  My section was over by 1:30pm.

  • I went in for induction at 8:00a on a Tuesday and had a section at about 6:00a Wednesday since my daughter's head was kinked and she wouldn't budge after four hours of pushing (oy!).  Family knew that I was being induced, but I told them that no one was to come to the hospital until they got the go ahead because I was worried about NICU time or other people getting to meet the babies first since I was preparing for the heavy sedation or even them just walking over to the nursery.  I'm so glad I did it that way because they did end up in the NICU for 36 hours and I could barely keep my eyes open that day.  I was finally awake enough to meet my babies for longer than 3 minutes on Thursday evening and then people started to visit on Friday.  Some may think my choices were extreme, but those were hours of my babies' lives that I wanted to share with them and my husband, not having a revolving door of people in and out during such a precious time.

  • My family was there that day. But that is what I wanted. I am super super close to my parents. My girls did end up having to go to the nicu but not until 5 hours after they were born. So we all had time to see the girls. It was wonderful, and I was so happy to have my parents and sister there with me and DH and DD.

  • It wasn't exactly scheduled, but I knew I was going to have a CS. DH called them when my water broke, and when I had my CS about 2 hours later immediate family was there.
When I had DD they weren't there and they were pretty upset about it, so I wasn't going to have that happen again!

I went into labor the day before my scheduled c-section and ended up having an emergency section that night. Our first visitors came the next evening. We didn't get back from recovery until 3 a.m. so both DH and I were exhausted and would not have been up for visitors in the morning.

My cs with my DS wasn't planned but my mom and older sister were there becuase they were going to help me through labor and bfing, etc.. Godsend for my poor DH who would have been left standing in a room all alone wondering what the hell a placental abruption was and why they ripped me from the room in 3 seconds without saying a word to him or anyone else.

My twins will be scheduled, again my mom and older sister will be there, they are my rocks and will help me with BFing and holding the babies (I am against them going to the nursery). My family is super duper close, so it is just natural for them to be there with me. I would never consider it any other way.

ETA: Besides my Step-dad, we request no other visitors at the hospital at all. No friends or extended family and all DH's live far away.

I could have written this exactly!! Everyone came that first day. I can't even remember a good portion of it as I kept falling asleep.
