4 month sleep regression

Well its finally started and Hunter isn't even 4 months yet (will be on the 23rd) He has been sleeping through the night (9pm - 6am) for about 6 wks now but that has since gone down the drain. He has been up every 3 hrs and by 4am he is a wake ready for the day. Nevermind the fact that he naps like 2 or 3 times for only 30 minutes each. It's driving us nuts. I understand he is going through a growth spurt but please tell me this doesn't last or someone has great advice?!

Re: 4 month sleep regression

  • It's a phase. It will end. No one here can tell you how long your LO will be in it, unfortunately. Some people apparently never notice it. (Blessed with babies who soothe themselves through this extra alertness, methinks.)

Anyway yes it sucks but this too shall pass.

  • We're in the middle of it right now - Mia's still a pretty good sleeper but is definitely sleeping less throughout the night. No advice but to be patient and be prepared - temporarily - for possible long nights; it won't last forever.

  • We've been going through this since 14 weeks. LO is now 18 weeks old. She was sleeping 6-8 hour stretches but now I'm lucky to get 2-3 hours. I just recently started side nursing/bed sharing so I can get some sleep. I read it can last anywhere from 1-6 weeks. Fingers crossed we don't go past 6 weeks. I am on exhausted momma!

In it right now but slowly getting better. We started with nights where she'd cry the minute I put her back down after feeding and would only sleep in my arms to up every hour. Now we're still at the up every hour stage but are getting random nights where she wakes up once, goes back down with soothing no feeding, and then is up every 2-3 hours. DD's started at about 3.5 months too. I pray it ends by the six week mark too!
