I'll man up and confess that I've really slacked off in the house cleaning dept since LO arrived. Ok, ok, since I got KU'd. Thankfully I married a saint and a clean freak who has kept our house in great shape but I feel awful that MH takes so much of the responsibility plus it takes away some of his minimal and precious quality time with the family.
So I'm thinking of starting a daily cleaning schedule. Anyone else do this? Tips/Tricks? Care to share your schedule?
Re: Cleaning Schedule
We try to squeeze everything else in on different days through out the week. No real schedule though...
Monday sweep/wash floors
Tuesday Vacuum
Wednesday Garbage
Thursday Recycling
Friday Dusting
He gets weekends off other than general tidying. He seems to like it.
I do my stuff on the go as needed and prefer it that way
But here are two of my tricks that do seem to work:
1. I can have a glass of wine or two, as long as I'm cleaning or organizing. It's a surprisingly good motivator.
2. If I'm getting really sick of how messy the house is, I throw a party. Sounds crazy, but knowing that a bunch of people are coming over always puts DH and me into cleaning overdrive.
I do grocery shopping on the weekend and clean out the fridge/ purge. We clean the kitchen every night after dinner.
I vacuum on Monday (or Tuesday), dust the house and clean the mirrors during the week and wash the bathrooms at the end of the week before the weekend.
I do a load of laundry Monday through Thursday in the evening.
EVERYTHING CLEAN ALL OF THE TIME!!!
Otherwise it was spot cleaning through out the week and a big clean on the weekend.
My weekend routine consists of vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning the bathrooms (this has to be done at least once a week). I have always done this, and my house tends to stay on the cleaner side.
#1 I don't set a strict schedule, because I feel like I'm setting myself up for failure
Daily I do 1 load of laundry after work, dishes, tidy up before bedtime (toys back in toy bin, markers/paper put away, basically cleaning up whatever we used). As long as that's done I feel good. I don't stress about the other stuff during the week, because I'm always tired, and the last thing I want to do after work is scrub a bathtub or some other annoying task.
Trash gets taken out on an as-needed basis
Floors get swept/vacuumed/moped on an as-needed basis
Saturday or Sunday - bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, and all other duties. We both do those so it gets done fairly quickly.
BFP 3/29/2014 2u2 Let's do this!
I've become so paranoid now as a mom to use commercial products around N especially now that he's crawling and climbing on every possible surface.
