Measuring early

At our 36 week appointment our doctor scheduled an ultrasound because my belly was measuring 33 weeks. Today the ultrasound confirmed that the baby is measuring 3 weeks early. We have our 37 week appointment where she is going to go over the results. Baby has a strong heart beat and is still moving around plenty. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with measuring early and what your doctor did? The ultrasound technician seemed concerned today as did my doctor last week.

  • My doctor said I was measuring small and then the next visit I was right on track. She said it was due to the way my LO was positioned at the time and was not concerned. Is your Dr. Concerned about how you are measuring? It sounds like your LO is still moving a lot so I wouldn't worry about it.
  • I was measuring ahead the whole time and DS came at 38+6. But he only weighed 7 pounds.

So it's hard to say. But if baby is healthy with a happy heartbeat everything is probably okay!

On my last appointment I was measuring 2 weeks behind. The doc is sending me for a growth scan tomorrow since it was 2 weeks in a row without any fundal growth. Baby is still moving around a lot and has had a strong heartbeat so doc wasn't too worried. I'm just keeping FX that everything looks ok tomorrow, I hope everything is ok with your LO too.

DD was born at the 3rd percentile.  She's been perfectly healthy and developing normally, although on the small side since then (maintaining 3-10th percentile)

    Some babies are just smaller.

They did induce me starting at 37w 4d and she was born at 38 weeks (because of PIH, which caused her to be small).  The dr was happy that they induced then because there were some minor issues with the placenta and she felt that at that point DD would get better nutrition from the BM than the placenta.

  • My LO measured 40 weeks + 1 day in the 91st percentile when I was at 37 weeks + 3 days. The only reason they ordered the sonogram was to make sure there was enough fluid. They said people have big babies every day and they will not move a due date based on a late sonogram. That said I go in today for a regular check up and I'm at 39 weeks and 2 days - no signs of baby coming yet either (to my knowledge the mucus plug is still in place, no bloody show and only the rare Brsxton Hicks contractions...). Stubborn child already!

I was consistently 2 weeks small from 28 weeks but DD turned up a day early at a healthy 6lb 14oz. Some of us just have smaller babies.

The doctor said he is in the 11th percentile, so they are having me do non stress tests weekly until he is born. She also is having me do kick counts three times a day now. I am getting impatient as three of my friends have had their babies this week :(
