Double Stroller Recs?

We still have awhile, but this is the only major purchase we will need to make I think. So, I am starting to think about it already. Preferably, I would like something that can accommodate both a toddler and an infant (and infant seat), but then convert to carry two toddlers once the new LO gets bigger. I don't know if this even exists. If anyone has a recommendation, I would appreciate it!

Re: Double Stroller Recs?

  • This comes up frequently on the Nurseries & Baby Gear board. The usual recs for side by side are the Baby Jogger City Mini Double (regular or GT version) or Valco Snap duo. Valco also makes a toddler seat that attaches onto some of their singles to make a double. There are even some double umbrella strollers out there.

Thanks ladies! @bmerr, this one looks good. I was thinking of a tandem. A girl I know has the Baby Jogger City Select, but it is like 500 bucks. It is awesome though!
  • We have the britax b-ready which converts into a double stroller but we just use it for dd. The pros- really easy to navigate, came with rain cover, lots of room underneath, adjustable handle bar, not bad to jog with, can have them facing you or away, and dd seems to like it. Cons- heavy (most of them are), doesn't recline fully back or fully upright, doesn't come with snack tray (uppa baby snack tray will fit but it is $35 on amazon), and it has a limited number of positions when you add another seat.

  • I have the Contour Optima and really liked it when my girls outgrew their car seats.  Now that they have gotten bigger, it is hard to face them towards each other because their legs are so long and they kick each other.  When I put the seats in other directions it is very easy for them to drop alllll of their belongings out of the stroller.  I know this happens with most strollers, but I also have the BOB RE double stroller and things only get dropped when they give it a good toss out.  I think I have an older model (bought at consignment store) because it's very hard to turn also.

My girlfriend with twins just bought the city select double stroller, which is the same concept as the optima.  I like hers better though because it's not as long and the seats fit under one another slightly.

  • We bought a b-agile for DD and we needed a second stroller so we bought the b-ready and got the second seat during free at the free ride event last year since we knew we would be having another. Not sure how much we will like it yet.
