Okay, so I am a little reluctant, but here it goes...

What steps exactly did you take in your treatment journey so far in order...? I know that mine is all backwards it seems from what we have all previously discussed. So I was wondering if someone could paint me a better picture of how this is all supposed to go down.

I HAVE been dx with Endo, PCOS, and Insulin Resistance, and I did 1 round of Clomid and decided against the 2nd treatment until things made more sense to me, and I had a bit more knowledge... I haven't had any other tests done, and my doctor had me on the Clomid as a result of "with what we know so far, this is affecting your fertility" and that was that, wants me to do 3 rounds before we do an SA, which I still really am clueless as to why, and have called numerous places, and they all refuse to perform one... I just don't understand... I am paying oop, so really, what does it matter!

I am trying to understand how all of this works a little better, so I know what questions to ask, and so I can be a little more prepared for office visits... Knowledge is power after all...

ETA: when I was dx with PCOS and Insulin Resistance, she went off of my CD 3 labs... which, I am not sure what all that includes, but I know my progesterone and thyroid were included in that...

So, with DS1 we worked with an OB for financial reasons and because the RE has a 6m wait for an appointment. She did some CD3 testing, but not all. She did order an S/A for DH before our first femara cycle, and a repeat when it came back borderline (details in siggy.) We were just biding time until we could see an RE, but our 2nd femara cycle worked after I insisted on 7dpo b/w and we added progesterone.

With DS2, we just did progesterone and it worked. But then he was stillborn at 20w.

On our 6th TTC cycle again we went to the RE. No referral needed (either time) He did CD3 b/w, an HSG and Hyst and another S/A (our 3rd) We did a natural IUI due to timing, and will be doing 2 Clomid IUIs before moving on to IVF with PGD.

I didn;t go into all our dx, but we have suspected endo, insulin resistance, low AMH, low morphology, LP defect and MTHFR.

Really? Someone mentioned an HSG, and that DH should get a SA done, but other than that, nothing else other than telling me what a twit I am, I am sincerely trying to understand this better, and no one wants to help, they just want to keep putting me down. I have given a lot of support, maybe not advice cuz I don't have much, but seems like I don't get much back.

Seriously Sassyfras, you need to get a SA done. That is STEP ONE. We really can't tell you anything beyond that, because you haven't completed step one.

Step three, don't assume just bc you get a dx you know everything bc then when you need help you get a bunch or sarcasm and google diagrams (helpful and embarrassing).
Step 4- don't use any drugs unless you know whole picture. And a GP will do an SA w/o re intervention if on won't

Listen, Sass, there's really nothing we can tell you until you get a SA. That's it. Get a SA. That is the hinge on which your entire IF treatments must swing. W/O that info you will be walking blindly. Maybe you'll get k/u, maybe you won't. Maybe someone else's journey would work for you, maybe not. What we've all done and the tests/procedures we've gone through are really irrelevant since you don't know if your situations has enough similarities. Go to your Dr, call your insurance, switch Drs, do whatever you have to do to get a pro who knows what they're doing and who will take the appropriate steps in order.

I'm glad you decided to pass on the second round of clomid. And good for you for calling around. I find it baffling that these Dr's are refusing to do a SA. Until you get a dr to work with you, just stop.

It's true. I really do agree that a S/A is going to help you narrow down your treatment options in order to maximize your chances of having another baby. It's the easiest of the tests and pretty inexpensive even if OOP. There is really no reason not to do it.
