2nd Trimester

19 weeks, but don't look it

I know everyone says not to judge your pregnancy by anyone else's, becuse every pregnancy is different; but I am 19 weeks and 4 days, but I still don't look pregnant most days.  There are sometimes throughout the day where I look more pregnant, but for the most part, people say thy can't really tell i'm pregnant.  I had a doctors appointment this past wednesday, and were able to find the heartbeat immediately, but i'm still worried.  I do have an ultrasound scheduled for this Wednesday.  Anyone's thoughts?

You are creating things to worry about.  I thought I was "showing" at 19 weeks, but now looking at pictures of me from then I can barely notice a bump.  I didn't really look obviously pregnant until maybe 32/33 weeks to people who don't know me.

  • I'm guessing you're a FTM? Me too. My doc said it's very likely I won't start noticeably showing until 20-25 weeks. Pretty normal for first-timers because our abdominal muscles have never been stretched out. I also have a retroverted uterus, which delays the showing. Don't worry about it too much!
  • Took me until about 24 weeks to show a little

    It's a BOY

  • "I know everyone says not to judge your pregnancy by anyone else's, becuse every pregnancy is different; but"   Im gonna do it anyways.

It's still early in your pregnancy and you don't have a huge belly but the doctor was able to find the heartbeat right away.  What exactly are you worried about?
  • This post is worthless with out pics. :D
  • This was me at 20 weeks with my first. You couldn't actually tell I was pregnant until around 30 weeks. It's not a big deal, the bulk of the growth happens in the last 10 weeks.

  • Like @WashingtonQueen‌ here are my two pictures from my two viable pregnancies. On the left is my pg with DD in 2011 & on the right is my pg with DS in 2013.

This was the "looking pregnant" as I started to.

Everyone "shows" differently. And every pregnancy is different.

With baby #1, I was past my due date and strangers would ask me how many MONTHS I had left. People were guessing he was going to be ~6 pounds at birth, he came out 1 oz shy of 8 pounds.

With this pregnancy, people (people I know, such as DS's daycare and my coworkers) started flat-out asking me if I was pregnant starting around 12 weeks.

  • Ooh, I love bump pics! I remember feeling huge here...and you can only tell because I was wearing tight fitting clothes....and I'm quite sure I was pushing my belly out ;)

I'm 37 weeks now and everyone asks me where I'm hiding the baby...including my midwife.

  • Like PPs said- you have a different body and a different baby, you are likely to carry your pregnancy differently than others do. It's not something to worry about. Everyone is different. My friends are the only ones who notice my bump because they know I'm pregnant and are looking for a bump (I'll be 20w tomorrow). But most days, I'm convinced it looks more like chub from eating an extra burrito at lunch than a baby bump.

Here's my (sorry it's sideways, I'm mobile) pic of my belly at 19w2d. And my sports bra is keeping my boobs under control mostly, so proportionally, the bump looks bigger in this pic than it normally does.

@nutmegs8‌ I love your hat! Where can I get one?

I'll be 21 weeks tomorrow and my belly is finally (barely) starting to look like a bump and less of a gut. I was worried about it, too. (my appetite has been nearly nonexistent so I was worried I was starving the baby or something) but the other day, to comfort myself, I google-imaged "20 weeks pregnant" and there are so many b-'s who are still as thin as a goddamn twig at this stage. I think we're ok. ;)

What does "b-'s" stand for in the bolded?

5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional.  5 BFPs.  My rainbow arrived 10/15/14.

  • I carry high up in my abdomen and didn't show obviously enough for people to notice until 24 or 25 weeks with my first pregnancy. With this one I am 23 weeks and can still hide my bump if I want to....I have to TRY to show off my bump for it to be obvious. I was a little bummed to not show sooner the second time around, but both of my pregnancies are totally healthy. Don't worry.
  • I'm at 22 weeks 5 days and I'm barely showing, and sometimes it bugs me. First because although my clothes no longer fit, I'd look ridiculous in the "maternity" stuff my mother in law got me. But also I have a friend, also first time mom, who is only 2 weeks ahead of me and was nice and plump by this time.

I have an anxiety disorder, so I totally get worrying about everything, even things you know not to worry about. One thing I can say is that if you aren't really feeling noticeable movement yet, you will soon, and no matter what size your belly is, being able to feel that takes a lot of the worry away.

  • I am  30 weeks and unless I wear form fitting outfits, I don't look pregnant.

  • I am 19 weeks, thin, and my belly, while visible to me and my hb really looks like just a bloat. People that don't know I'm pregnant can't tell and ones that know say I don't show. I had a normal anatomy scan last week. So no worries. It depends on your body type and anatomy. For instance, women with tight abdominals often don't show until much much later.
