We are about two weeks in. Short side of the story. My baby wouldnt suck on anything the first 24 hours of life. We finally got her to suck a finger so we did.finger syringe feedings. Then after four hours with Lactation consultant got her to take a nipple shield with sns feeding. She was lazy and wanted immediate gratification. So now we are nipple shield only.
Randomly if she is awake enough while feeding (rare) ill take the shield off for while and she will take my nipple. When I try my nipple first, even after getting it hard she tongues it out and honestly looks disgusted lol. My question is introducing a bottle would be a bad idea since she is not taking my nipple. We have a wedding in a few weeks and honestly the shield is fine at home but in public will be a pain.
I dont want to hurt our breastfeeding chances with something as silly as using a bottle at the wrong time. Thanks for any input... starting to feel like we will never lose this shield!
