Check In: How is the diet going? Any challenges that we can help out with? Any new recipes/successes that you want to share? Rant/Vent about the lack of cake?
QOTW: Did you have a favorite name(s) growing up that you wanted to use for your future children? If so, what was it and would you still consider using it?

Re: Weekly GD check in
I am getting tested on Monday and I am REALLY hoping that I pass this time. I feel like I can control my diet to make sure I pass but then I know they will test me again a little bit down the road.
I'm just feeling anxious about it because last time was such a hassle with being strict on my diet (pricking my finger 8 times a day) and then having to readjust my diet because my ketones were too high, appointments twice a week... etc etc... I actually ended up losing weight during Christmas break because I was really watching my diet...
I feel like I might have an emotional break down if I get it this time... especially because the diagnoses would come at week 14 and last time it came at week 26!
How do you deal with the stress?
As a girl I always liked the name Mauritania for some reason (a country in Africa). I would never name my child that but as a child I thought it was so cool and pretty.

I had GD with my first and am pretty sure that I will have it again with my second. I have been feeling a little strange any time I let myself get too hungry or after I eat a lot so I am planning to start testing my sugars now to see how they are doing (first I have to go find my glucose monitor from the last time). Honestly, I am not dreading the diagnosis - GD helped me keep my weight gain in check the last time which helped me bounce back to my pre-pregnancy weight much quicker. with my first, I gained 20lbs in 1st and 2nd tri and only 5lbs in 3rd tri - even though I am being mindful of what I eat this time around, I am still gaining weight just as quickly.
My mantra with GD is portion control. I still ate ice cream the first time around but switched to a brand that had one serving of carbs in 1/4 cup and stuck to the serving size. Luckily, my sugars were still pretty well controlled. Since I am older this time around, I don't know if I will be able to get away with the same strategy.
Hmmm - I never really had any favorite baby names growing up and when DH and I were dating, I kept a mental list of names I liked. Of course, DS's name is one that we never thought of before we had him!
We are seriously struggling with a name for baby #2 but luckily we have time to make a decision.
I am struggling to keep my sugars up. Mine keep dropping down into the 40-60 range so my midwife told me to increase my calories and carbs but watch it and that I will most likely have to adjust back down around 25 weeks.
My favorite childhood name has always been Jordan for a girl and I named my first DD that! I am struggling with names for this LO
