Toothless wonders??

Anyone still got 0 teeth in? By 7 months, DS had 4, so I'm just not used to it. Of course we blame any bad mood on teething, but really I don't even see anything trying to poke through. I'm not at all concerned and I love the gummy smiles, it's just a reminder how different every baby is.

  • DD doesn't have teeth but I think she is getting at least one in the next week or so.  I think I feel a ridge.  Those teeth have had me fooled for months though!

  • No teeth here at 8 months! I was certain we were getting some last week. 3 days of full blown teething symptoms that just vanished by day 4.
  • No teeth here. 7 months and 1 week.

dd had her first tooth at 3 months, and by 6 months she had 6, and by 11 months, she had 16.

ds has zero at 6.5 months.

my neighbor has 2 kids, where they both didn't get their first until 11 months, which i think is insane, but okay!

  • Almost 8 months and no teeth. We blame any crankiness on teething. A few weeks ago, she's was sucking/biting on all the things and drooling like crazy and that has all gone away now.

Per huntjul's mom, please don't let my baby be notverysmart. :((

Another not very smart baby here.  He has had two bumps on the bottom for 3 weeks now but the little suckers just won't pop through.

  • Same here.  He will be 7 months on the 23rd and still no teeth.  Gums are puffy and really hard buts till pink in color not red.  DH says he can feel some bumps on top.  I can't.  DS1 has several teeth at this age.

DD has no teeth nor any signs thereof.  I think it's awesome.  No boob nips that way!

My mother said we took forever to get teeth.  Actually I think her exact words were "you know they say that the earlier the baby gets teeth, the more intelligent it will be, but my babies didn't get teeth until really late".

On a whole other note.....I had someone tell me that their pedi told them the late teeth can be caused by a baby being longer/taller. They are growing so much that their body is devoting all calcium to growing bones rather than teeth.

    :-?

D got her 4th tooth yesterday. She will be 7 months on the 20th. My NPs son is 10 months old and still not even a sign of a tooth. They are all so different. It's hard to believe!

Beau has zero teeth at 2 days shy of 7 months but I do believe he will be popping out his bottom two shortly. I can see them right beneath his gums.

DD didn't get her first until 11 months. And it was her upper left center incisor. Looked super cute since it was her only tooth for about 2 months, too :)

Her pedi mentioned at the time that teething late is indicative of hitting puberty late. I can only hope. LOL

What??? I need to look that up! DD1 is soooo tall (wearing 4T clothes at 2 1/2 years and is now about to out-grow those and go into a size 5) and a really late teether! She only had 2 teeth at 1 year and we're still waiting on 2 of her 2-year molars and she turns 3 in a month!

Let us know if you find out it is true! I haven't gotten to research it yet.

  • Teeth bud in utero and begin to calcify while the babe is still in the womb. The length of time for the calcification of the tooth and the root to mature varies according to the size of the tooth. Most crowns are completed in the first year but the roots are not completed for several years. And this is just for the baby teeth!

FWIW, my boy is in the 100% for height and has two teeth and is teething like mad these days for more to come in.

    sooo....

Well, DS just got his first tooth last night (explains his foul mood this past week) and he is 93% in height (27 weeks old).

No thoughts on reasons why here, but DD is still toothless!  I agree that I am quick to blame any drooling and/or bad mood on teething, though.
