Pumping issues-older baby

Lo is 10 mos today. Over the last 2-3 weeks, my pumping volume has dramatically decreased. Her intake on my working days has also decreased. She is now taking 10-12oz per day with the sitter. I am lucky to take home 8oz/day at this point and today I'll do good to take home 7oz. My concern is that I only work 3 days a week and am worried she is not getting enough milk the rest of the days. She is nursing less during the day and still every 3ish hours at night. She has 3 meals a day. Is this normal for her age or is my supply drying up?

Re: Pumping issues-older baby

  • She's old enough that she'd let you know if she wasn't getting enough. My girls are a few weeks younger than your LO and seem to be nursing less as well (same frequency, but shorter duration), so I'm going to guess this is normal :). You could also be gearing up for your period...

  • sounds normal to me. i definitely noticed a decrease in my supply as DS started eating more and more solids. at 10 months, i was down to pumping 2x a day and i was getting about the amount you are- 2 bottles' worth. if you are nursing on demand when you are at home with your LO, i wouldn't worry- your supply will naturally adjust to what your she needs.

My LO just turned 10m and has really decreased her dc intake lately.  We peaked at 15oz/day a few months ago, but she hit as low as 8-10oz/day a few days last week.  Today she took 12oz.

My pumping yield varies, although it was down today after 3 days of being together without pumping.  My supply tends to go up throughout the workweek, so we'll see.

@casey78‌ this is us exactly. The same oz/day. Glad to know this isn't an issue.

I think you got some good info/advice from the PPs.  Just wanted to chime in that I too seen a dip in supply while pumping and nursing decreased around 9-10 months.  It went back up a bit between a year and 13 months, and then decreased after that. We're still going strong BF'ing 3-4x a day at 19 months.  So I think you'll be just fine!
