Have you ever given fries, chips or other very junk-y food to LO?

  • French fries FTW!

  • She has gotten a bite or two in the past, but it's pretty rare.

The twins have had fries a handful of times and licks of my ice cream twice. Considering how seriously awful my diet is, this is really impressive.

  • Allison hasn't had any junk food. Honestly, she isn't interested in our table food yet. I sure we will get those puppy eyes very very soon!

  • French fries..fuck it. I always order them without salt anyway. God forbid I eat in front of him without sharing or giving him his own food.

She eats what we eat... Including French fries. And a cookie at brunch Saturday.
  • She gets fries when we hsve some. She has yet to swallow any of them. She also has eaten cake and froyo. She loves frappacinos. She pretty much tries everything I eat.
  • I've given Aiden French fries when we were out and I let him have a taste of my ice cream this weekend. That was a mistake because now he goes nuts whenever he sees it!

  • Same here as everyone - not generally, but she gets it if we're eating it. Feeding her has made me eat better, in general, though, since I'm always thinking about it.

  • French fries, especially sweet potato fries, are a fav. She's had a few nibbles of some sweet stuff too, like a lick of my frozen yogurt or some muffin.

  • Cookies. Once or twice a week.

Shortbread, choc chip, and, as of this weekend grandpa reported "he's developed a taste for sugar cookies." I acted appalled but really was just sad that I am not the only one spoiling him now.

  • Mainly fries and once she tried frozen yogurt. But it's not very often that we go out.
  • I always share my fries if I've got them, and he usually gets a bite of dessert. I've been doing the dessert sharing less lately because then he just wants the whole thing and gets mad that that's not an option.

  • DS hasn't had any real junk food yet. He's generally not that interested and he's had a few food allergies, so we're kind of cautious. Before becoming a mom I would have probably been one of those that gave a side-eye, but now I could care less. Oh how perspective changes everything!
  • I let him taste pretty much anything I eat. He's tasted ice cream, fries, cookies, whip cream...I'm not concerned.

  • Fries. Some of the cupcakes my H made in Sunday. Little pieces of her chocolate Easter eggs.

But also lots of good food. I don't believe in any kind of restrictions. Letting them have everything gives them a healthy attitude towards food. Marnie even drinks (gasp!) juice on occasion (I don't know why juice is such a bad guy these days).....

Luke has had half a Girl Scout cookie x3, some bites of cinnamon roll, and some salty tortilla chips because sometimes that's the only spoon he'll eat off of. Probably other things too. We haven't done ice cream yet but only because I want his first ice cream to be Ted Drewe's and for some reason we haven't made it down there yet even though it's literally 3 minutes from my house.

We're supposed to be cautious about sugar because of his gut, but so far it hasn't bothered him so eat all the things.

Oh, and @Mommy1stTimer I definitely counted ice cream as my servings of milk when I was pregnant. I have never used our ice cream maker so much in my life!

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts!
DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.

  • @mimi4347 I ate milkshakes like there would never be milkshakes again while I was pregnant, I totally understand

  • SS: I didn't give it to her, she took it off my plate while I was cutting up someone else's food.

These are the hazards of having too many children, you just can't be vigilant enough and learn to let things slide. ;) I never would have offered FFs to DS1 at this age. So she eats FFs now, whatever. At least she eats and isn't heading down the road of having a visual food sensitivity like DS2.

  • Since I posted a poll months ago about feeding LO processed cheese sauce, I'm sure you can guess my answer
I still think of that post and can't wait until the next time I'm in Seattle so I can go eat said cheese sauce.

Not intentionally but if you leave a bag and move this is what happens. He was eating fruit and thank goodness had a bib on. Moty, I took pictures then took them away :)
He looks so happy!  He is adorable!!

  • We eat really healthy.  DD has had some french fries when we are out to eat.  She eats off my plate.  If there isn't something she can eat that I'm ordering I'll order a side of avocado or a hard boiled egg for her.

She had some coconut ice cream when she was about 5 months old.  She couldn't get enough.

  • Like everyone else, French fries is about the only junky food he has had more than once but still only a few pieces at a time. Other than that, he has tasted things like ice cream, a cheese danish, icing, etc. and it's usually only because one of us is eating it and he gives us puppy eyes and whines until we share.

Alex loves french fries. He basically eats whatever l am eating. He is teaching me about sharing.
I will say that at a tea party a couple of weeks ago, my family was a little too generous. Scones with cream were a big hit.

We decided to stick with healthy food , no junk, for the first year and we have stuck with it!! Although it is definitely hard to resist giving him bites.

When he turns one we will definitely be more relaxed

We haven't really given him much in the way of junk, mostly though because we don't eat too much of it ourselves. If I buy it, I'll eat it, so I just don't buy it. Last time we went out for burgers and fries he was still mostly eating purees so I just fed him a pouch and he didn't seem to mind.

I did feed him a bit of plain froyo yesterday, he kept making sour faces but opening his mouth for more. So cute!
  • DD has had french fries and ice cream. I was so crazy about DS only having organic fruits and vegatables that I made. He did not have his first sweet until his 1st birthday. He is a horrible eater and would live off cookies and cake if I met him. I started DD on table foods much earlier and have given her treats. She is such a good eater!

  • So yay! I was not alone! Yes, I also gave him ice cream when we were in Italy because... well it was Italy :P and he has had a couple of chips too (without my consent, he crawled and pick one up and swalloed asap so "mommy wouldn't do that thing with her finger when she has to take paper pieces out of my mouth!"
