~*~*PgAL Check-In*~*~

This is a weekly check-in for all ladies who have previously experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth, or loss of a child at any age. Please post your updates below! ((Hugs)) to those that need them this week. For those with appointments coming up shortly, I hope you have a great one!

1) How far along are you?

2) How is PgAL brain treating you?

3) Any important appointments/updates this week?

4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? (Nevermind any education required to do so. Just for fun!
:P)

Re: ~*~*PgAL Check-In*~*~

  • 1. How far along are you? 6w4d

    2. How is Pgal brain treating you? I'm better today after my first appt yesterday but in will still be worried until 12 weeks.

    3. I had my 1st appt yesterday and we have a 6w fetus with a HB! I'm so ecstatic!

    4. I would not switch professions. Although there is lots of stress in teaching, I love teaching and enjoy working only 180 days a year!

    1) How far along are you? 5w4d

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you? I'm fine most of the time. The real crazy won't come out until my U/S. I really want to see a normal, healthy child (or two again, whatever! I don't care as long as he or she or they are healthy and viable).

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? No. 2 more weeks for my appt.

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? (Nevermind any education required to do so. Just for fun!
) Would LOVE to be a personal trainer if it paid well!! I have such a passion for fitness and healthy living that it would definitely be a job I was good at and enjoy doing all the time. I genuinely get excited for strangers when I see them making a commitment to a healthier lifestyle.

  • 1) How far along are you? 5 weeks today!

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you? Awful- symptoms have disappeared on the 5 week milestone just like they did with my loss so I am convinced this one is doomed as well

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? Monitoring my betas till I reach 4000. If all keeps doubling I should get there by Friday and then they will scheduled an US. I was 617 last Friday so it seems like 4000 is a long ways away. My number topped out at 3989 at 29 dpo

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): I wish I was a lawyer. It is Absolutely what I was meant to do but the cost of law school stopped me.
  • @mejin215 congrats on a great appt and seeing the HB!

@CrazyMonkeyBear you and me girl. Waiting on our appts. What time is yours at on the 29th? Mine is at 3:30.

@JerseyHopeful FX those betas reach 4000!

Hi @YaMrWhite!  Thanks for posting the check-in!

    1) How far along are you?  6w4d

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you?  Not too badly.  Just counting down the days until I can get chromosomal testing done.

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? I have an u/s and b/w today.  Hoping to see two tiny HBs!

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? (Nevermind any education required to do so. Just for fun!

@rmpar29 hoping you see those HBs! I used to work at an animal hospital in high school and it broke my heart. I couldn't take the bad with the good. I love animals so much!!

Edit: add @jconno tag since you also mention animals as a profession.

Yea I would be concerned about that. I always glamorize it in my head but I know there are tough things that come with the job. I definitely wouldn't want to put an animal down. I also don't want to deal with creepy/ugly animals (spiders, snakes etc) LOL.
I'm with you!!!  Snakes and spiders can just all disappear and I wouldn't be upset.  Of course, I'm sure that'd throw off something in the food chain, so it probably wouldn't work.  LOL

I heard a pretty shitty story yesterday about a pit bull being put down because she attacked her dog walker. The supposed attack happened at 11 and the dog was put down by 2:30. The owner didn't even have a chance to discuss anything or see attack wounds and the dog had zero history of aggression. Makes me livid. The dog was 8 years old too so 8 years showing no aggression and suddenly she attacks her walker and is put down without question. Something just doesn't add up. I'm hoping my husband (it's his coworker) can provide me more information today.

Yep. I too had a pitbull mix that a close gf ended up falling in love with and begged me to have her as a companion to her pitbull mix so I said ok. But that dog wouldn't hurt a fly and she was bred out of hate. There was a huge bust in Michigan where over 300 pitbulls were seized from a warehouse that was being used as a fighting ring for pits and one of the females was pregnant. Out popped my little Zeppelin. I still see her at my friends house from time to time. She is such a sweetheart. It's not the breed. It's the owners that give that poor dog a bad name.

  • ) How far along are you? 3 weeks 6 days, EDD 1/21

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you?  Honestly not great.  I made myself not test today but my FRER tests aren't getting any darker.  The digital at 11 DPO said pregnant so I'm relying on that for now.  I don't know why I am driving myself this crazy but I want this baby so bad.   I have symptoms like the creamy CM and sore bb's so that gives me comfort.  Today I have mild cramps like AF is coming.  I guess I keep envisioning the fact that I'll start bleeding again soon.  I don't envision a baby yet.

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week?  I just scheduled my first appt for June 5.  I asked if I needed to come in earlier since I just had a D&C less than 2 months ago but they said it wasn't necessary unless I was bleeding.

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? (Nevermind any education required to do so. Just for fun!
:P)  If money were no object, I would love to work at a plant nursery.  I love growing flowers and veggies.  Unfortunately, I don't think it would pay the daycare bills so I am an office manager at a car dealership. :)

    1) How far along are you? 5 weeks

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you? It's been kinda rough. I've told myself to take it day by day, and I know that I can't do anything to stop a m/c if it's going to happen, but I am checking for blood multiple times a day.

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? No, I go back for a check up in 2.5 weeks.

  • This group of us might be the only thing that keeps me same during this pregnancy. My bf thinks I'm a little crazy and my friends who never had losses don't understand how unnerving it is. They tell me to enjoy not having symptoms and to just be happy I am pregnant but I know even though I had an early loss I won't be happy till this baby is in my arms.
  •  How far along are you? 5 weeks

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you?  I'm doing okay.  I had a loss my first pregnancy at 12 weeks, then had a healthy pregnancy so this pregnancy feels better than the last in regards to pgAL brain.  I think I'm not really letting it sink in that I'm pregnant again which helps ward off the tough feelings.

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week?  I don't get to go in until June 6.  I tried to get an early appointment because of my loss but the OB said because I did have one healthy pregnancy I didn't need to come in.  It does not help my pgAL brain at all...

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? I'd be a write for a travel magazine and have to go to all these exotic places to do research!

  • @Mejin215 yay for hearing the heartbeat!!

@YaMrWhite  Being a personal trainer would be awesome!

@CrazyMonkeyBear I don’t have all that many symptoms either and it’s making me crazy too.  Hang in there!

@JerseyHopeful each week is a milestone after a loss so yay for 5 weeks!  I’m sorry PgAL brain is so awful.  Hang in there and Fx your levels reach that 4000 quickly!

@rmpar29 fx for good results on your u/s and b/w today! Let us know how it goes!

@jconno I hate when symptoms subside a bit, makes me worry too.  But you’re right, it’s normal!

@rkargerja try to stop peeing on sticks, I think it might make you crazy.  Could you call your doctor and ask them to monitor your hcg and progesterone?  I get cramps too and that makes me so nervous but they’re normal.

@blazerbay I’m sorry your lack of symptoms is making you nervous.  Mine are like that too.

    @mmheartspb that’s great advice!

@luvinlifeMN I’m sorry your OB wouldn’t see you sooner

@KJsbabe fx for your u/s on Monday!  What is a SAHM?

@laece I’m sorry you’re a mess.  Hopefully your appointment will offer you some comfort.

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you? Not too bad today. Earlier this week I had a dream that I was pregnant with twins but lost both of them.  That messed me up for a few days.  I'm also lacking in the symptoms dept and that tends to make me nervous.

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? I've been getting hcg and progesterone blood work done every other day starting last week and my hcg has a 24 hour doubling time which makes me really happy.  With my loss my hcg levels were really slow rising.  I'm waiting for more results today to see how my progesterone is doing.

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? (Nevermind any education required to do so. Just for fun!:P)

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you? It's making me nervous about a loss, since my loss happened at about this time last pregnancy, a few months ago. Also, I seem to have a constant headache, so not sure what's up with that

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? Nope, just wait and see

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? I'd love to do ceramics professionally, since I did it for fun a while back, and was actually pretty decent at it.

  • 1) How far along are you? 4 weeks 5 days (based on the date I assume I ovulated)

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you? Not too bad. At 4w5d, I haven't had any spotting... but around this time with my loss, spotting was bad enough that I went to the ER. I'm having enough cramps to let me know that stuff is going on in there, and I'm just enough nauseous and my BBs are just sore enough that I feel "comforted" to know things are OK. My husband and I just told our mothers the news this past weekend, though, which opened up everything to being more "real" and makes me more nervous should anything go wrong. But, on the other hand, it's nice to know they'll be there as an automatic support system going forward.

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? No appointment until May 29. But this week, my husband and I will be flying across the country (and returning the following week), so I'm hoping all goes well there. And I'm hoping morning sickness doesn't kick in while we're out  of town! (We'll be visiting people who we don't intend to spill the beans to until second tri.)

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? My current profession is as an editor, and I don't think I'd want to change my profession entirely, but I'd love having more interesting stuff to edit. I currently edit documents that circulate past my desk at least once a year... the same exact thing every time, and it gets boring. I think I might enjoy editing novels or non-fiction texts a bit more.

Today I just got my 23dpo or 5 weeks 2 day results and they are 6360! I was thrilled to hear it and I don't have to go back for more blood bc they will monitor me with scans from here on out. Big milestone for my poor PgAL brain and very welcomes news going into the weekend.

Woohoo!! I had mine checked Wed and learned today they were 3690. I had them redone today so I am hoping I get a good number like you did!!! :)

  • checking in here, because i finally found it after missing it forever.  LOL

    1) How far along are you? 4w3d, if my O date is correct, which it might not be but i'm reasonably sure it is.  (i was sick a lot and had to throw out a lot of temps.)

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you?  eh.  could be worse, i think.  i have good days and bad days.  yesterday was a bad day.  today has been an ok day...not stellar, but definitely not bad.  i'm trying really hard to just live in the moment, the whole, "today i am pregnant," mantra whenever i catch myself going internally thermonuclear.  it's not helping that my symptoms were actually worse with my loss (the nausea and bloating, namely).  i'm still a week out from my loss milestone.

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week?  not this week.  i scheduled my first appointment earlier this week (not till june 18...EEK!), but the scheduler xfered me to the nurse/triage line so i could ask about my PPI since it's category C, and when i expressed what a basketcase i've been on and off over this, she put in an additional note to my OB (who i haven't seen yet...i'm a new patient at this practice) asking if there's something else i could do.  she got back to me an hour later with a different PPI the OB wants me to try and that he also wanted me to schedule an additional Q&A appointment ASAP so we could meet and to get me officially in the system, so he can order bloodwork or u/s's as he sees fit.  that made me pretty happy. so that's wednesday next week.

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? (Nevermind any education required to do so. Just for fun!
heh. what's your definition of "profession"?  i'm an environmental engineer by training, but i've been out of work since before DS was born (nobody wants environmental engineers, apparently), so i'm a SAHM in practice.  i guess if i could do anything i wanted...i don't know.  work in an arboretum or state park?  become a nutritionist?  nurse?  i have no idea.  lots of things sound good.  being a SAHM is great, but it's also kind of limiting and i feel like i need more out of my day.  i feel terrible for saying that.

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week?
No in fact they called today to set up my paperwork apt and because I'm going out of town on the 23 till June 18th I won't get in till June 19th just for paperwork then I won't get bloodwork or an us or actual apt for 2 to 3 weeks after tht
    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? (Nevermind any education required to do so. Just for fun!) I'd love to be a midwife
  • I hope you don't mind me jumping in a bit late :) I'm super excited to be here!

    1) How far along are you? 3w+6

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? Gonna call my OB to set up my first appointment - hopefully he can see me sooner rather than later.

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? If so, what would you do? (Nevermind any education required to do so. Just for fun!

  • 1) How far along are you? 6 wks 2 days

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you? I'm stressing. With ds I did blood work to check HcG levels & had ultrasounds at 6 & 7 wks. They watched me very closely b/c of the previous mc's. This time I don't have an us till 8 wks. So I went in for my nurse appt & they confirmed the preg. Sill makes me anxious to wait. I hate being a worrier!

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? Go back in 2 wks for an ultrasound & see my dr.

    4) I got my undergrad in psych thinking I would go to grad school for social work or counseling. Took a year off school & then got married, moved, dh finished his PhD & the ds came. So right now I'm a stay at home mom & wouldn't change that. I'm so thankful I can stay home. I really wish I had just gone straight to grad school & could at least have the possibility of going back to work. One day I'll get there.

  • 1) How far along are you? 6w exactly

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you? Not so nicely. Good news is I passed my loss milestone. But, I still can't shake the dread. I'm trying to establish the "I'm pregnant today" mantra, but my subconscious brain keeps sneaking in. Still checking the TP for AF.

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? Nope. I haven't even called my OB's office yet. It's like I'm waiting for something to assure me this time is different before I call to schedule an appointment. Maybe I'll call this week...

    4) QOTW: Aside from current profession as a banker, I would love to be a hairstylist. I've always wanted to have my own shop.
  • 1) How far along are you? 3 w 4d

    2) How is PgAL brain treating you? Trying to ignore that nagging voice in my head that says this won't work out, and embrace the 'Today, I am pregnant' mantra

    3) Any important appointments/updates this week? I'll go in Friday for a confirmation preg test and set up my first appt.

    4) QOTW (Question of the week): On the heels of the Symptom Check-in GTKY - if you could switch professions, would you? Probably be a librarian. A building full of books sounds just about as close to heaven as possible
