Trouble TTC

Any info regarding Vasectomy reversal?

I have not been on the bump in quite a few years. I have 2 boys conceived using Clomid. My husband had a vasectomy 3yrs ago and we are now regretting it. I have been looking into Vasectomy reversal physicians and wondered if any of you lovely ladies had any experience with your DH having one or if you knew of any good physicians. I have been searching online and found 2 physicians out of state. I live in CA and it seems to cost $10k and up.

We have been trying to adopt for over a year know but had a bad experience and have chosen to look into having another biological child. I would appreciate any help or knowledge you would be willing to share.

Re: Any info regarding Vasectomy reversal?

  • I'm so sorry about your situation, and that you have been hurt by the adoption process!

I have not had experience with either, but since you mentioned the cost of the reversal, I just wondered if you considered IVF/ICSI with sperm aspiration as a possible alternative - since from what I've read, VRs don't have superb success rates yet? Especially if you were really looking for only 1 more, and since you have had TTTC in the past.

Anyways, I wish you luck! It's so lovely that you are looking to grow your family. :)

  • My DH had a vascetomy reversal a little over a year ago. He had the actual vascetomy about 2.5 years prior to the reversal. However, the reversal has resulted in MFI. DH has a within "normal" but low count. His motility started out horrendous, but has improved. After a while of trying on our own, we went to an RE. We had our first medicated IUI in early April. It didn't work. His DR told him that the most successful are those who have reversal within 3 years. DR also said that the first 18 months post reversal are the best chances. Our insurance covered the reversal.
