I desperately would like to get induce.

I am almost 39wks. I can't sleep, my back is killing me, the heartburn won't go away. The Braxton hicks contraction wakes me up when I do finally get some shut eyes. My doctor is so liberal, when it comes to my cause of induction. I feel like no one understand how tortured I feel.

  • ^^ @mmks couldn't have said it any better!
I absolutely empathize with you. I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow and I just came down with pneumonia and a yeast infection- together, all at once. Just realize there IS an end in sight and this won't last forever. You got this momma!

I couldn't agree more with @mmks.  I believe I was admitted too early with DD and being induced with Pitocin led to a c-section.  I'm trying for a VBAC this time around!

  • You should totally report him to the medical board. I mean, not wanting to intervene when there is no medical reason to.... So malpractice.

  • You're almost there---try natural means to kick start labor, rest and take care of yourself! Every pregnant lady is uncomfortable and ready by 39 weeks.
  • For heartburn try papaya enzymes works waaay better than tums!

I am over here at 40 weeks begging to not be induced but also begging this damn creature to get her ass out!

    I hated being induced.
  • I have two different opinions on induction my sister claims (I don't not remeber I guess) that she was induced with two of her kids and it was horrible. Than I have a friend that begged her dr for induction at 39 weeks and had the easiest labor. As uncomfortable as I am (at 39 weeks) I don't think induction because I just don't want to be pregnant anymore is right.
  • How do you all feel about induction due to "large gestational age?"

I know ultrasounds can be WAY off so baby might come out normal sized. I'm 39 weeks 2 days and my dr offered induction for Wednesday because baby is measuring 9 pounds, 4 ounces on Saturdays ultrasound. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's tempting to meet my baby ASAP and to know when everything will happen, but the possibility of c section scares me, and it almost seems like "cheating" ...?
  • @madelined633‌ personally I would wait as exciting as it sounds people have delivered babies way bigger. Idk did you dr say the baby is too big you might have to have a c section? As long as baby is okay and your okay let the baby cook for as long as they want lol

I wouldn't do it. Here I am at 40+6 today and begging baby boy will come on his own bc I don't want to be induced in a week. Being induced bc there's an issue ok ( I've come to terms that if my body won't do it naturally it needs to be done once the benefits of induction outweigh the risks) but other than that just no. I'm praying I'm somewhat dilated tomorrow so that I can get a stretch and sweep to hopefully help me along.

I'm uncomfortable but I'm also a week past my due date...suck it up your lucky your baby is thriving

  • @DWIQUEEN‌ I totally feel your pain! My doc won't induce either and I am sooo ready! Just try to relax and baby will come when he/she is ready. Once the baby is born you won't even remember how uncomfortable you were during the wait! This is my fourth baby and with my last he came on his own and the labor was so much easier and quicker. Deff quicker and less of a process than induction.

Yeah we have had a couple people tell us about how the ultrasound measured them at 9 something and then baby was only 6 something. They base the "weight" measurement somehow off the length if the femur bone and the circumferences of the head and abdomen.

A long scary induction does not sound fun.

You asked about the baby being too big and maybe having c section because of that. That is actually a possibility. My cousin just had a 10 pounder, 23 1/2 inches long baby in November and had to have a c section. My sister in law had a 9 something baby vaginally and tore so bad that she had to have a blood transfusion. Both probably rare. But either scenario makes me nervous!

I completely understand where you are coming from. I am 41+1day and feel like this baby will never come, although I FINALLY started having contractions yesterday. My OB wanted me to wait until closer to 42 weeks to induce, so I am scheduled for my induction at 41+3 this Thursday 9PM if I don't go into active labor on my own. Mind you this is after I was begging to be induced by 41 wks and my OB hesitantly scheduling it and pushed the date as long as she thought was necessary. After doing my own research and getting my bloody show on Sunday, I asked my OB yesterday if I can just wait it towards the end of this weekend so I can avoid the induction (I know, after I had begged for one at my 40 wk appt) and now she is saying the risk is greater for the baby so we should keep the date as is. I can't win.

  • I have an induction date set at 41 weeks (Friday) due to shoulder size above the 95th percentile even though he's not 11 pounds (estimating 10) or anything crazy pounds wise. It sucks but the kid needs to cook for a little longer or until there is a medical need to induce.
  • I'm being induced next week at 39 weeks because of a large baby and borderline pre-e. I would give anything to just be allowed to let LO come naturally wen he is ready, compared to the risk of my body not being ready and ending up with a CS.

I totally get being uncomfortable (I'm carrying over 9lbs of baby at 37 weeks), but putting yourself and baby into an unnecessary situation in not the way to end the discomfort.

When I am having those days that I am miserable an just want to cry, I try to remind myself that I have a healthy baby wiggling within and that soon all the pain will be replaced with pure joy when my little Chunk arrives!

I'm being induced Thurs at 40w for the exact same reasons (borderline pree and baby size). None of the women in my family have ever made it past 39 weeks before going into labor, so I was expecting to go naturally by now, but so far not happening! I guess I still have about 36 hours for him to come on his own...I'm 2cm and partially effaced. We'll see! Anyway, I wouldn't even consider the induction if my doctor wasn't worried about mine and the baby's health, even as uncomfortable as I am!

I agree with @pistolpackinmomma . I had a medically necessary c/s with my 2 year old. Not bc go his weight, 9.2 , or length, 22 & 3/4, but bc of his head and shoulder size. He would not fit and was going to break his shoulder/ collar bone. He was even stuck in my c/s. Talk about scary! No to induction. Most inductions end in c/s anyway and yours is not medically necessary.
Baby #2 is on the way!!

  • Were all ready irregardless if we are 36, 37, 38-41 weeks. In a dream world pregnancy would be comfortable and we'd all know the exact date our LO's would arrive, but the babies will be here when they are ready, then your uncomfy from either a c-section or a vaginal birth, and no sleep, then either. I'd keep the LO inside as long as you can, cuz once there out they are not going back in.
