changing area organization

I need some of your ideas/hacks for organizing a designated changing spot for LO.  We've been using a changing table with shelves for his diapers, wipes, clothes, etc and a diaper genie next to it, and that's been awesome for having everything on hand.  But now he tries to flip over on the changing table and crawl out from under the belt as soon as I put him on it, so it's not safe to use anymore.  I can keep his clothes upstairs in his bedroom closet/dresser and dress him there, but I still want his diapers and wipes, genie, and changing pad of some sort to live in a designated spot on the floor and not end up all over the living room, especially for changing the really bad poops.  What are you guys using now?

No answer - all I can say is I'm having the same issue.  The second DD lays down on her changing table, flips over and tries to grab everything in sight.  I've resorted to the floor now (her room is on our main floor so it works) but need to move things aroudn in hopes to still change her up there but without anything in her grabbing range.  I'll be watching this thread!

  • We've been slackers and still have his bassinet downstairs that we use for changing him, but he has turned into a wild guy and it is getting increasingly difficult.

My plan is to just keep a changing pad ready with a cute little basket full of wipes/dipes/lotion/etc.  Maybe in those cute little caddy type things so I can grab it and just change him anywhere.

  • I still use the changing area on the pack and play, but she is outgrowing it...DH changes her on the couch...we just kinda have the diapers and wipes all over...LOL

  • We still change up in his room. If he is extra squirmy we do it on the floor, if not we use his change pad on top of the dresser.

I often change him and dress him or change him before/ after a nap, so 90% of the time it is in his room.

  • Upstairs I still have the changing stuff set up on too if the dresser. I have a basket caddy that holds everything & the changing pad.

Downstairs I have a big ottoman that has storage inside. I have a couple baskets inside if that to hold diapers, wipes, changing pad etc. we either change her in top of the ottoman while sitting in the couch or on her play mat on the living room floor.
  • We've been changing him on the floor since he started flipping over 10+ times ever changing.
  • We change DS on our spare bedroom bed on a big octagon changing pad. We keep his diapers, wipes, necessities, etc in a Thirty-One bag. Works out great!

Thanks ladies!  All our bedrooms are upstairs, so it's going to be the floor for us.  I'll look at containers/baskets/caddies at Target and see if I can get something small enough to be easily moved around but big enough so I'm not restocking it too often.  Also maybe a waterproof pad/liner of some sort that's bigger than the one that came with my diaper bag.
