DH has a 4 door wrangler and is itching to take the top and doors off. I told him to knock himself out but leave the kids doors on. What say ye parenting, if kids are safely strapped into their car seats:

It depends on how old the kids are.  Are we talking older than 13?  If so, doors off would be fine.
Younger than that?  Doors on, top off.

I love Wranglers with a passion.  It is my dream car.
my kids are 2 and 4.
  • I wouldn't feel comfortable with either the top or the doors removed until my kids were at least in their young teens.

  • One thing I'm confused on - is this a soft top? Because I don't believe the soft top offers any real protection in an accident.

I'd be ok with top off, never young kids doors off, and probably ok with the front doors of a 4 door off. Not ok in 2 door. Convertible with no roll bar, not ok.

  • I don't get why the age of the kids matters on the doors.  IMO, no doors is an unsafe way to ride for anyone.  So yeah, doors on, roof off I guess.

Do you have a soft a top, and soft doors? We roll the top down, but keep the soft doors on. We really only take the doors, and top off if we are going 4wheeling on easy trails.
