Size 4 already!?

DD has been in the Target Up & Up diapers since day 1 with only the very occasional blow out. She's close to 16 lbs and is in size 3 which says 16-28 pounds on the package. But in the past week she has blown out every poop diaper she's had. Do I need to move to size 4 (22-37 pounds) or switch brands entirely?

I know the weight guidelines can be way off and I hate to switch just because Up & Up is so inexpensive. But I obviously don't want to keep ruining her clothes! DS was FF so his poops weren't as explosive as her BF poops so we didn't have this problem.

  • I would try a different brand. I don't think moving up sizes will solve your problem. Some brands just fit certain kids better. Just the way the bodies are shaped.

  • My DS is around 20lbs and still in size 3 Pampers Swaddlers (which seem to fit him very well) so I would agree with the PPs that your issue is more likely the brand rather than the size.  We tried Huggies in the beginning and DS leaked through all of them, but he has been great with the Pampers.

Ya I'd try a diff brand. DS is 21 months and in size 4s at 26lbs...I wouldn't think your dd needs that size yet :)

My DS is just over 2 and right at 29 pounds and he's been in size 6 since last fall. Diapers definitely do fit every kid differently. I think I'll have to try the Kirkland Signature brand. Thanks ladies!

  • DS is just over 20 pounds and I have him in size 3 Pampers Swadlers.  I've found those always worked the best for us.  DD is around 22 pounds and we still have her in size 3 as well.

  • I have no advice about diaper sizes ;)

We've been using a combo of Pampers and Kirkland's and haven't had a blow-out with either baby yet!

Wow @tootsscott‌ that is really impressive!! We CD so I only use disposables once in a while but it sounds to me like it is the brand. We got some newborn pampers and Huggies and they fit her so differently. She blew out of every Huggies diaper but rarely did with pampers. Hopefully you can find something else at a good price.

I would also try a different brand. From what I read, Kirkland diapers are like Huggies and the Up & Up is like Pampers. So maybe try the ones from Costco. We use it on DD and she hasnt had one blow out or leak ever.

  • I've been using the Kirkland ones all along and haven't had a single blowout or leak! My son is now wearing 9mo clothes and the 3s fit him perfectly with room to grow...I'd give them a shot!
