I have some diamond studs that my parents got for me a while ago and I would like to sell them. Anyone have any experience/advice? Should I go to a jeweler? I'm assuming I probably shouldn't use online sites. Any advice would be appreciated.
Yes have them appraised by a jeweler. Then try to find a reputable jeweler to sell them to, as most pawn shops/cash4gold places will not give you anything close to the value. Do you have the paperwork for them?
Also, what are your reasons for selling them? If you are willing to do a trade you are more likely to get closest to the actual value. Are they on sterling silver or gold posts? That makes a big difference in the value as well

I don't have paperwork. I bought them in the diamond district. They gave me the clarity information. They are on white gold posts. I actually haven't gotten them appraised but they were in the neighborhood of $1000? I'm thinking of selling them because I have another pair and I never wear this pair anymore.
I would love to trade them but dh's jeweler didn't seem interested... So I guess maybe I will take them somewhere else.

I agree with Audrey about EBay after you get the appraisal. However, people usually want to see paperwork when buying online. It's definitely worth a try though
Some jewelry stores will take a trade-in for an upgrade. You would probably end up better cash-wise by selling and putting the money toward a new set, but if the difference is minimal it may be worth the convenience to just trade them in.
