Swollen lips...down there. Any relief?

What is up!? My vagina lips are swollen, my left one in particular! It's really big, red and has bumps in it. I know its due to increased blood flow and just preparing me for birth. Anyone tried anything to relieve the pain? Cold pack? It doesn't hurt per se, it's just throbbing and feels funny.

  • Ice pack & float in a pool to take the weight off of it as often as you can

  • Ice pack.. Look up a homemade one on Pinterest that stays pliable
  • Sorry.... I'm thinking yeast infection instead. I'd check with your doctor.

  • I had that with my first, everything swelled up 4x normal size and it turned out I was allergic to the underwear liners I'd been using.

Could be any number of things so best check with your doc but sitting with a cold-water soaked washcloth pressed on or in the tub in an inch or so of cool water should give a bit of relief no matter what the cause.

Thanks guys!  So far my cold pack has worked well. I'll ask my doctor tomorrow about it when I see her.
  • Try Witch Hazel.  You can get the oil and apply it to toilet paper or get the pre-moistened wipes at the drug store.

  • Tucks pads have been working for me- both in the front and the back.

  • I'm awfully sorry to read of your predicament. I too suffered from vulvar varicosities during my first pregnancy. I'll be straight and to the point. You need this:

It's called a V2 Supporter and it's specifically designed to treat the nightmare of an issue you described above. I have a used one in size petite that I'd be glad to give you if you by chance happen to also be a size P.

  • It's a varicose vein :/ Not much you can do but ice it until baby arrives! It will get better then. I have never had that issue until this third baby and it's awful!
Actually, there are some braces (like a wrist brace, only for your vagina) that can lessen the symptoms and in many instances make the veins go away altogether. They cost anywhere from $40-$70 depending upon where you buy (avoid the big box stores and the brick-and-mortar boutiques). The name is "V2 Supporter". It was a lifesaver during my first pregnancy.
