Cleaning Schedule

I'll man up and confess that I've really slacked off in the house cleaning dept since LO arrived. Ok, ok, since I got KU'd.  Thankfully I married a saint and a clean freak who has kept our house in great shape but I feel awful that MH takes so much of the responsibility plus it takes away some of his minimal and precious quality time with the family.

So I'm thinking of starting a daily cleaning schedule.  Anyone else do this? Tips/Tricks? Care to share your schedule?

I'm following this, but have nothing to contribute.

My life is chaos. :P (and my house!)

  • I do the laundry and grocery shopping on Sundays. DH takes care of the dishes and garbages every night.

We try to squeeze everything else in on different days through out the week. No real schedule though...

  • I made one for my DH as he kept leaving it for one day and getting frustrated lol

    Monday sweep/wash floors
    Tuesday Vacuum
    Wednesday Garbage
    Thursday Recycling
    Friday Dusting

He gets weekends off other than general tidying. He seems to like it.

I do my stuff on the go as needed and prefer it that way :)

  • We are trying to keep a better cleaning schedule...we got a new house, so I get a fresh start  ;)

Hoping to do general stuff every night to keep the clutter down, and the big stuff weekly

  • We don't have set days to do things on but we do split it up.

I do grocery shopping on the weekend and clean out the fridge/ purge. We clean the kitchen every night after dinner.

I vacuum on Monday (or Tuesday), dust the house and clean the mirrors during the week and wash the bathrooms at the end of the week before the weekend.

I do a load of laundry Monday through Thursday in the evening.

    Lately?

EVERYTHING CLEAN ALL OF THE TIME!!!

Otherwise it was spot cleaning through out the week and a big clean on the weekend.

  • My cleaning schedule is to keep the house sort of decent until the house keeper comes on Tuesday.

  • My weekend routine consists of vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning the bathrooms (this has to be done at least once a week). I have always done this, and my house tends to stay on the cleaner side.

  • #1 I don't set a strict schedule, because I feel like I'm setting myself up for failure

Daily I do 1 load of laundry after work, dishes, tidy up before bedtime (toys back in toy bin, markers/paper put away, basically cleaning up whatever we used). As long as that's done I feel good. I don't stress about the other stuff during the week, because I'm always tired, and the last thing I want to do after work is scrub a bathtub or some other annoying task.

Trash gets taken out on an as-needed basis

Floors get swept/vacuumed/moped on an as-needed basis

Saturday or Sunday - bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, and all other duties. We both do those so it gets done fairly quickly.

  • I'm with you on not being the best at keeping up on housecleaning. I am taking a day off work this week to scrub the house. After that I'm going to try to do bathrooms one day, dust one day, vacuum and kitchen floors another day.
  • While we're on this topic: what baby friendly cleaning products are you guys using?

I've become so paranoid now as a mom to use commercial products around N especially now that he's crawling and climbing on every possible surface.

  • Well she charges me 200 pesos for the day. So I am sure you ladies would have one as well if you could for so little. Works out to what 15 dollars, give or take.
  • I am soooo following this. I've had a hard time with this, too!

For $15, I'd have her over every other day!  LOL
  • This thread alone is giving me anxiety thinking of all of the cleaning I should be doing...  the sad thing is DH is not working right now so you'd think the house would look decent... i mean, to him it's pristine..

  • Honestly, we hired someone. She comes every 3-4 weeks and does a deep clean. It's the best $60 we spend.

I have become a fan of Method products for cleaning. They are actually green, they work great and smell fantastic!

  • For the floors, I vacuum and use a steam mop. That way I don't have to use any chemicals.

  • I have laminate and the install guy said not to use a steamer :( I'd be all over that if I could!! Cleaning my floors is a major pita. We use bona which claims to be baby friendly. It's still a major pita to do though. We have wood laminate throughout our entire 1st floor.

Ditto on the anxiety. I honestly feel like a failure compared to some of you. You're all super-moms!!
  • Cleaning on a regular basis had been on my "to do list" for about....8 months or so!

  • Now that I'm back from vacation I'm trying to do a major spring clean as well as weeding/gardening! Going slower than I'd like...
