Intro and IVF questions

Hey there! I'm new to this board and the infertility process.

TTC 2nd time and struggling with male factor (feel free to read signature for details). Just finished my 1st IVF cycle and wondering when the hormones and ovaries start dissipating? My RE said 4-6 weeks, but today I am so hormonal and weepy (nothing I've ever experienced before). Also, when have folks started getting AF after an IVF cycle. Disclaimer: We froze our embryos and did not do a fresh transfer. I'm not on progesterone either. So is that considered a failed IVF cycle? Seems so harsh to say when it really didn't fail. :0)

10/2009 - TTC#1 Stopped BCP! Let's DO this!
1/2010 - BFP (Natural) --> 10/2010 - DS born! Yay!
12/2010 - DH diagnosed with stage 3B testicular cancer. #cancersucks
10/2011 - Complications with DH and lymph nodes in groin area removed. No longer able to ejaculate.
1/2014 - TTC#2 - IUI#1. No luck. Findings: DH sperm did not survive freeze. RE recommends IVF with ICSI.
3/2014 - IVF Cycle #1 Started BCP
4/2014 - Lupron, Gonal-F, and Menopur
5/7/2014 - ER day (25 eggs retrieved, 15 mature)
5/10/2014 - 6 fertilized, 3 embryos frozen - one grade A and two Grade B. Plan was to grow out to blastocyst stage but rest of eggs arrested by day 3. Decided to freeze on day 3.
2/9/2016 - FET #1 with Grade A (8 cell - 3 day embryo); 2/20 - Beta was <5. BFN.  :/ Waiting for period and start next FET.
7/8/2016 - FET #2 with Grade B (8 cell - 3 day embryo), fingers crossed this one sticks. :)
7/19 - Beta was 74. BFP!!!!; 7/21 - Beta was 182; 1st U/S on 8/2; 2nd U/S on 8/16 :)

    I never really felt "hormonal" on IVF cycles, it was much worse on Clomid cycles for me, so I'm not sure? I would imagine you will feel a lot better after you have your period, which could start any day, since your body is not going to have much progesterone after retrieval, you might be feeling a little out of sorts because of the sudden decline in hormones. 

    No, it's not considered a failed cycle, it's called a "freeze all cycle" it's only considered a failed cycle if you do a transfer which results in a BFN.

    Welcome.  We also have MFI from azoospermia.  I have had many fresh IVF's but only one frozen transfer.  I was always on progesterone and either had an early miscarriage or the one time I had nothing to transfer, AF came I think 4-5 days after stopping PIO.

    I think after having so many strong hormones in the body and then the sudden drop can make you feel emotionally exhausted.  I have felt that with each cycle that did not work.

    It is not a failed cycle if you chose to freeze instead of transfer.

    Two failed rounds IUI in 2010
    IVF #1 in 2011 - BFP 8/5/11 - Our IVF miracle was born 4/8/12
    FET 9/23/13; BFP -Twins-10/3/13; EDD 6/10/14; MC 11/1/13; D&C 11/4/13
    FET 3/28/14; BFN - 4/7/14
    IVF #2 - Transfer 2 embryos 11/14/14; BFP 11/24/14 - Beta 265;
    11/26/14 - Beta 612; 11/28/14 - Beta 1263; 12/1/14 - Beta 3571;
    12/3/14 - first u/s - two gestational sacs; 12/17/14 - two healthy heartbeats (132 and 134)

    Welcome! I have no experience with IVF yet, but after only having 2 follies through an IUI cycle and how crappy I felt after that, I can imagine how you feel. Hope you start to feel better soon.

    FET end of October 2014 cancelled due to fluid in uterus due to possible c-scar defect
    Surgery scheduled 12/12/14 to fix possible isthmocele
    3/26/15 transferred one 8 cell grade 4 embryo and one 6 cell grade 3 embryo = slow rising betas for 2+ weeks = ectopic MTX shot 4/29/15
    Repeat c-scar surgery June 2015
    2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized.  Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN
    MOVING TO ADOPTION!
