need advice !

So recently ive been having shortness of breath and dizziness. I had an episode at work and got sent to the hospital. They told me i might have pe. Pulmonary embolism. Which is a blot clot during pregnancy that can kill you. But i have to undergo a scan. And wait 3 hours to see the results. I got scared and left the hospital. But now im reading more about it and i think i made the wrong decision for leaving. What should i do?

Re: need advice !

  • You left the hospital or you were discharged? Did you call your doctor's office to talk to someone on call?

  • Yeah. they just kept throwing test ofter test. Then she told me i would be waiting for even longer for the results to come back. At the moment i felt fine . But when i did more research. I feel stupid for not staying and under going the procedure.
  • My husband tells me im overreacting. And that ill be fine. But im deciding whether to stay home or go back and get it done. Shit if he dont go ill go alone.
  • Go get checked!! You are not over-reacting, the doctors are the ones who suspect it. It's not like you diagnosed yourself or anything. If you have it, you need to be properly treated.

  • Thats what i keep thinking. Id rather be saFe than sorry. Im just scared.
  • It requires me to lay flat on my back for 30-60mins wont that hurt the baby. I laid down flat for 15 and my belly got hard and started cramping. Wouldn't that hurt the baby?
  • Go back to the hospital now. Get the test, if you have a PE you need to be treated. If not, you will be relieved and not have to worry. Go back.

Ok so bluntly... You are making excuses for yourself

It is ok to be scared but doctors are not going to offer or suggest tests that are not needed in this case. They are extra careful when you are pregnant. I have been dizzy, I have passed out and no tests like that were offered. This leads me to believe they know or suspect something for a reason.

I would call your Ob first thing in the morning and ask for advice.

Every test takes hours, days or even weeks to get results. I think that is silly for reasoning to deny.

MUD? I am finding this thread a bit suspicious... :-?

On the off chance that this is real, OP, like PP urged, go back to the hospital and have the test done.

Laying on your back does not hurt baby. Much later in pregnancy, circulation is best when you're on your left side. However, laying on your back really wouldn't "hurt" the baby at any point in pregnancy...it might just be uncomfortable.

I thought possible MUD at first too. But OPs been around the board for at least a few days because I recognize the name and the need to post a new thread for every symptom she has.

  • Im at the hospital being seen. I researched the procedure and decided to undergo it
  • Thanks for being supportive. Ik my decision was wrong so i came back to undergo it.
  • People do make mistakes. It would be an even bigger one if i hadnt come back. But i am back. And if i dont have pe i would be happier than stressing and not knowing
  • Glad you went back.

  • @Emerald27‌ thanks. Im glad i did and realized it was a selfish thing to do
  • Glad you are getting seen :) I hope everything comes back great!
  • @Justabean3‌ thanks i hope so too. And when this bBy comes its gunna get he/she will get lectures on how sick i was. And kisses
  • Thanks .
  • Update! Everything is fine i did tge scan there were some risk of losing the bby. But i prayed and hope that he takes care of my bby. But they didnt find any clots thank God.
  • There is a blood test they would do before doing a scan. I had to go to the hospital once for chest pain, I also have an arrhythmia so I have to be extra careful, and they ran a blood test to rule out a PE. I don't see why a scan was needed.

  • Go back to the hospital right now. You are risking your life and the babies life over a simple scan.

Becuase your level is higher in pregnancy and the test is only a negative rule out test. And she said they did other tests. It could have been that, but with pregnancy was probably still elevated and therefore little help.

I am still having a really hard time wrapping my head around this being real....
I am wary of it too...wondering if I'm letting the "bby" and other text speak get to me or if my intuition is trying to say something.  OP, I'm glad you got help if this is for real...a pulmonary embolism is nothing to mess with... or joke around about.

  • @MissMandyD‌ i updated in the comments at 12:13am i went. And everything was fine.
  • And actually the test took 20 mins and the results came back in less than 30.the other doctors were written up because she told me it would take 1 hour to scan and 3-4 hours stay at the er for the results.

Updates are better found in the OP or at the end of the thread. People aren't going to go back to the middle looking for your update. Just an FYI.

  • OP, glad you are ok. I'd probably follow Dr's orders in the future, though. Especially when it comes to the health of your unborn child.

  • I agree that you should go get the test. However, I read that the 2nd trimester brings shortness of breath and dizziness. You're probably just having pregnancy symptoms, but definitely go back!
