I was 0 cm dilated and 0% effaced so they inflated a balloon in my cervix to ripen it up. The cramps were horrible. Now I'm laying here listening to the woman in the next room scream her head off and I'm f*cking terrified.
Good luck. Try to keep in mind that everyone handles pain differently. With my sister, she said screaming really helped to push even though she had an epidural and couldn't feel much.
Lawls @ woman screaming. I remember the night I was induced with DS and had a woman come in doing the same thing. Our nurse shared too much but said it was the woman's 4th (or 5th) and that she should know better by now.
But as pp said, everyone handles pain differently. Some scream, some cuss, some pass out (me!), some are quiet, etc.
Omg!! You poor thing!! You can do this!!! Good luck, and think of that beautiful baby you are about to meet! Just remember every cramp and pain is one less you have to feel and one closer to meeting your new baby. Keep us updated!
I would say get an epidural when you can. I got induced with my son and the contractions started pretty fast (water broke at home is why induced). By the time I was able for an epidural I got one and then smooth sailing from there. I didn't feel any pain from then on out and was even able to nap while having contractions and dilating 5 cm the last hour. By the time pushing occurred I was still a-ok pain wise any my son was born after an hour pushing, being face up and 2nd degree tears (still no pain). Even with all that recovery wasn't bad. I am 38 weeks this time around and very excited to welcome our new baby to the world. So thankful not to have unknowns like last time! I am not at all worried about the pain. And this time I have had BH contractions that have been strong and even those don't worry me. Good luck! Get an epidural when you can and enjoy that new little bundle when you can!!!
We just started the pitocin and playing the waiting game now! Thanks for all your good thoughts, I will update when I can also, no screaming women yet today so that's good
Been in labor for 8.5 hours now, still 3cm.. No progress at all. Had an epidural so I'm just hanging out, baby looks happy and content and doesn't want to come out. I'm starving though!! Thinking of sneaking a snack...
