Food Questions

I debated making this different posts, but I am going to group them.
Cupcakes: Do you make them? Do you use a box or do you make them from scratch? I was going to order cupcakes for DDs baptism, but the place I was going to use is $66 for 2 dozen. I can't. I am a perfectly capable of baking them and that hurts me. There won't even be leftovers at that number.

Lasagna: We are exploring what appears to be a sensitivity to tomatoes in DD1, they seem to make her eczema flair up. I would like to try a white lasagna. I am thinking zucchini, spinach, ricotta, parmesan, whole wheat noodles...I'd like to see a recipe though first. Anyone have a good one?

London broil: What do you do with it? I go one really cheap last week and don't know what to do with it. It's 2lbs.
Thanks!
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

Re: Food Questions

  • The only one I can answer is about the cupcakes. I always make my own from scratch and always use an "annies eats" recipe. I find them to be so much better than any box mix and really not hard to do.

  • I can only answer for the cupcakes. I do a box but doctor it up to make it taste better. Use melted butter rather than oil, milk instead of water (or brewed coffee if you're making a chocolate cake) and an extra egg yolk. And always always always homemade frosting. I like the pioneer women's flour frosting.

  • I would pay a million dollars not to have to make cupcakes.

I have a white lasagna, but it has butternut squash and spinach in it, not really springy.

    I'm not helping.
  • Whenever I make cupcakes, it's really obvious that I made cupcakes. I would never make them for an event.

My veggie lasagna recipe is killer but it takes hours to make and the kitchen looks like a hurricane hit it when I'm done. Also, now that I think about it, there's tomato sauce layered in with the white sauce.

I'm assuming your London Broil is some kind of round steak? I never know what to do with those, either, it's not my favorite cut of meat.

  • I can only help with the cupcakes as well. I always make mine from scratch. I have a go to recipe for chocolate with cream cheese. Ugh delicious. LMK if you would like it.
