Medela Pump Users

So I just got a Medela PISA. I cannot get the yellow thingymabobs that the membranes connect to off of the pump piece to clean it! They are on there so tight and I cannot pry them off! Have others had success? How did you do it? Special tricks? DH even tried and he can't get them off. I feel like a loser LOL

Re: Medela Pump Users

  • No, not the tubing. It's the part the membrane connects to. I can get the membrane off, but the yellow pieces are stuck and it says to remove those when cleaning.

  • Mine get stuck every day. Sometimes DH has to get them apart for me. Otherwise, I run it under warm water and keep twisting and pulling until it comes off. (I keep them in the fridge or cooler unil I clean them, hence the warm water). Using a towel like mcg suggests would probably help too.

  • I have to twist like I'm unscrewing it to get it to loosen.

This is what I do too.

  • I've tried boiling and twisting. I will try wiggling though!! They are on tight and it kills my fingers to try to loosen them. Thanks ladies!

  • I don't take them off very often. I just clean with them on.

  • Yep, I'd twist like I'm unscrewing them, and grip them with a towel or something when they're really tricky.
  • I grip them with a kitchen towel and they pop off

    Yeah just wiggle them.
  • I can hardly get mine off either so I usually clean with them on. Hot water only works on one of them. I have yet to try pliers and I just might do that tonight!

I thought they were permanently attached. Oops.

  • They are easy to take off if you flip them off. Put your thumb over the membrane and push. They are designed to pop off. No need to twist.
