Trouble TTC

-:- 3T Weekly Check-In -:-

Congrats to all the BFPs and ((hugs)) to those that need them!

If you are finally getting your BFP, please PM me so I don't miss it!  Also this helps me avoid posting an ambiguous BFP if you're not ready to officially call it.

Reply to this post if you would like your information updated.  Please post an update at least monthly so I know you are still active - even if your info hasn't changed.  You will be removed if you go more than four weeks without posting.

If you would like to be added or updated, please answer the questions below:

1. What is your name (if you want to share)?
2. When did you start TTC (month/year)?
3. What is your diagnosis (if you have one)?
4. What treatments are you doing?

For everyone who is up to date on the above, where are you in your current cycle and how's it going?

QOTW: What is your favorite chick-flick?

  • Hey ladies! Congrats to the recent BFPs and hugs to those who need them. I'm sorry I've been a little MIA since IVF #1 failed. I've been lurking, but not posting as much. I'm glad we're almost done prepping for IVF#2, cause I'm ready to move on. I'm just afraid to be hopeful since last cycle wasn't what we expected as far as nothing to freeze etc. Hope you ladies make it through this painful reminder of a day with as little pain as possible. • I am 13dpiui IUI #4.1 and am waiting to test until tomorrow.

QOTW: ah so many! Off the top of my head, The Devil Wears Prada and Fools Rush In. The SATC movies.

    Me: 32  DH: 33  Married: March 2004

    July 2006: started TTC
2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno
2008 - 2010: dragging my feet out of fear and procrastination
October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary

July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN
    IUI #2, Jan. 25, 2014, BFN
    IUI #3, Feb. 25, 2014  BFN
IUI #4 canceled due to lack of response to letrozole
    IUI #4.1 April 28, 2014, BFN

May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis

May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5

November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)

    IVF #2 December 20, 2014 - 3dt of 3 embryos, BFN

We are done with treatment unsuccessfully. :(

  • Everything is starting to feel very real - got lots of worrisome semi-results this testing month (no one is telling me anything for reals until the consult in 8 days). CD2 US showed a clear string-of-pearls on left ovary, HSG shows my uterus is highly tilted (but ute and tubes are all smooth and clear - woohoo!), and prolactin was high so they retested.

Basically I'm expecting some bad news and a complicated, maybe longer-term treatment plan than I had hoped for. Trying to let go of my expectations and optimistic plans and just go with the flow.

Sex & the City is probably the chick flick I have rewatched the most, but I have to say that since getting married, I have been very content to watch whatever my DH comes up with. So I've learned to appreciate action, fight sequences, muscles under armor.

IUI #6 was canceled as I over responded. We just got approved for a loan that will cover costs for IVF. We have our IVF consult on the 21st. I'm not sure what cycle we are going to start with as we have discussed taking a short break. We will decide for sure after our consult.

QOTW: You've Got Mail. I love that movie!

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

    1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

  • Good luck everyone in the 2ww and hugs to those who need it.

AFM I'm just trucking along on my birth control pills. I still have 2 weeks left before we start the IVF process. I've just been getting my meds situated and money together. I'm ready to get this going.

I'm going to try to do an IVF check in when I sit down long enough at a computer and look for where it was left off. If anyone knows I'd really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.

@emilee871‌ Pride and Prejudice was on yesterday, I recorded it hoping to watch it today. I love it.!!

I have so many chick flix's. I like some of the older ones ..... Pretty in Pink, You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, Steel Magnolia's .... I know there are more but I'm drawing a blank right now.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • Good luck to anyone in the 2ww and hugs to those who need them. I'm cheering on all you ladies about to start a round of IVF.

@rumbera28 Good luck on the job front!

    GL tomorrow, @jencity9!

Good luck with your medicated cycle, @sewfie

@StacyLH24 Sorry your cycle got cancelled. :-(

AFM, tonight is my last day of Clomid. I stair-stepped to 150mg. I'm on CD17. I go back for monitoring tomorrow. I'll update more then.

QOTW- I'm not a huge movie fan. I guess I like 50 First Dates and some other cheesy rom-coms though.

  • @chickysue‌ I love Save the Last Dance too! Are you a Scandal fan? If so, did you realize Kerry Washington plays the girl that sort of takes Julia Stiles under her wing? I think she was the sister of Julia's love interest if I remember correctly. I was blown away when I realized that, LOL!

    @lebradford‌ thanks!

CD5 for me day 1 Clomid round #2. Felt mood swings today super angry to super crier that was fun. At least I held it together at work today. So many visitors on holidays at the nursing home. • Having a really hard time today.  A lot of big life changes are happening (moving back to the US this week after almost a year away, starting school again) and I think the emotions from that are spilling over into my TTC frustration.

Currently on CD41.  There's a possibility I O'd around CD30.  My temp dropped a few days ago but I was pretty sick that day, so it's possible it was because of that instead.  Then I forgot to temp the past few days since I've been sick and a little crazy... so now I have no way of knowing anything.  Either way our timing wouldn't have been great.  And I'm not going to be with DH when I either get AF or test, so we wont be together to give each other support.

QOTW:  I love chic flicks, and somehow found a husband who does too.  Sweet Home Alabama, When Harry Met Sally, Princess Bride :-)

  • I'm still temping and waiting. Temps rocky. Nothing new on that front.

Q: I'm not really a chick flick person, but I would have to say Fireproof. It's about a husband and wife on the verge of divorce and the husband (Kirk Cameron) is challenged by his dad to give it 40 days. He gives him a journal with a Love Dare. Each day, he has to so something to improve the marriage. Don't say anything negative, do something nice, etc. My mom was really into chick flicks and always wanted me to watch it. I only wish I had given it a chance when she was still alive. It was awesome!

Hi Ladies! Good luck to everyone in their 2WW! Hugs to everyone too :)

We had a little bit of a back and forth this cycle. We had decided to do IVF so I started BC, then decided to give IUI one more shot for my DH's comfort. So I'm not sure what cycle day I am bc of the pills, but I started Follistim last night. I did bleed after I stopped the pills, so I'd guess I'm CD4 today.  I will go in for an u/s Thursday. I imagine that if I respond, my IUI will be sometime next week. The RE said I may not respond well due to the BC, but I had to try.

QOTW: I love chick flicks & all movies in general. I think my favorite chick flicks are Beaches, Notting Hill, 3 Men and a Baby/Lady & Father of the Bride!

I am right between egg retrieval and egg transfer.  We had 16 retrieved, 12 mature and 8 fertilized.  Today is day 3 and they called and pushed me to a 5 day transfer which is good as long as they keep going for 2 more days!!!  I am such a nervous wreck.  I guess we all are during this process.  It is nice knowing that for 2 more days I can enjoy life before they basically put me on "light duty" for 2 weeks.

  • We met with our RE today to get our most recent SA results and make a plan. I was thrilled that our SA results were count 12 million, motility 60% and morph 2%. That is a huge improvement for us! Our Re said that we could now try an iui, so we are skipping next cycle because of vacation but will do our 1st iui at the end of June. He said we would try one and see how the sperm holds up when washed. If the post wash numbers aren't good, he recommends moving to ivf, but if they are good we will try 3 cycles. I am happy just to have a shot and not have to move directly to ivf.

My favorite chick flick is The Notebook. I love it!

but may want to before moving forward with any fertility treatments.
After seeing the uro, DH is currently taking lots of supplements and clomid to try to boost his count. We will have a repeat SA in February to see if it works.
    Follow up SA numbers are: Count= 4 million, Motility= 40%, Morphology= 1%
Uro wants us to have another follow up SA 5/9 to see if we see further improvement than we are back to the RE to make a game plan.

SA 5/9/2014 Count: 12 Million, Motility: 60%, and Morphology 2%. We will be doing iui #1 in late June

So thrilled about all the BFPs this past week. IF BFPs always make me so happy and hopeful!

Well, testing with my TERRIBLE doctor isn't quite done yet, but I think I am going to cut it short and move on to an actual RE. Worst case scenario, I have to complete my bloodwork again with an RE, which I am fine with. This current doctor wants me to have 7 DPO bloodwork done on CD 21, despite the fact that I told her I very, very seldom ovulate before CD 21. I offered to inform her when I confirm ovulation with temping and we can do the bloodwork 7 days after my chart shows ovulation and she just scheduled it for CD 21 anyway. So the bloodwork will be completely meaningless.

The already completed bloodwork that is coming back though looks like a tentative PCOS diagnosis. LH was almost double FSH at CD 3 and my AMH was 12! I ovulate on a regular basis, but my cycles are pretty irregular, so I wouldn't be surprised if this has been our issue all along.

But, small victory for this month, I managed to get my very first positive OPK this cycle! I have never been able to turn one of those things positive before! Success!

  • Hey Ladies-

Congrats to all the recent BFPs and (((hugs))) to those who need them.

Not much new going on with me. I'm starting a new supplement tomorrow morning (Inositol) which has an excellent reputation for helping women with PCOS manage insulin, in conjunction with the diet plan I'm following. I'll give it a month to see if it helps my IR. I'm resisting Metformin as long as I can.

QOTW: Ugh, just one? I'm a shameless chick-flick addict. Sweet Home Alabama is the one I can watch over and over, though.

  • @MissEm15 My DH has been taking L-carnitine (two a day), CoQ10, antioxidants, and a men's multi vitamin. He has also been taking clomid. He started taking all of this the first week of December. All of this was recommended by our uro. Our RE did blood work on DH first and thought his hormones looked ok. The uro said that DH's testosterone was low for a guy his age. He said that chart most RE's use is based on older men, so according to that chart his testosterone was ok. So basically the clomid has raised his testosterone which helps sperm production.

My DH has also cut alcohol down to 4 drinks per week, because that is what the uro recommended.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your upcoming iui!
