Silly thawing question...

Silly question. I've got a decent freezer stash built up. I've got probably ten bags that I froze upright before a genius on here suggested freezing them flat to save room. I've been freezing them flat since reading that, but was wondering if there's any way I could partially thaw the other bags in the fridge long enough to get them slushy, then refreeze them flat. I wouldn't be thawing them all the way.

Is this safe or do I just suck up the fact that those ten bags take up more space than the other 20+?

I'd leave them frozen, although if it still has ice cristals it's probably okay to refreeze (check out kellymom storage rules)

^^ I used half fresh half of the oldest frozen (2 bottles of each a day). This way the freezer stash rotates.

I agree with this, although I'd probably just leave them alone. I stored all of my milk in a deep freezer in our garage. The GFCI outlet tripped and shut off the freezer once, and everything in there partially thawed. I think it had been days before we noticed. By the time I opened the freezer, all my milk had partially thawed. I had a heart attack!!! If it was only a few bags I would've tossed them or used them right away, but it was hundreds of ounces. I did refreeze them and they were fine- DD never had any issues with that milk.
