January 2014 Moms

AW: happy mothers day to me...

Forgive the late night mobile bump... It will probably be full of typos etc.

My first Mother's day and we are 7 hours into our 18ish hr drive. I'm riding in the back w dd and backseat guiding DH as needed (he's awesome at this though).
So far I have learned not to complain about big boobs, I can reach lo with mild contorting in my seat! She's been fighting sleep so some comfort nursing has put her out twice now. All after dark thankfully, no passerbys getting eyefuls yet! We'll see what tomorrow holds I guess.

What are you proud of as a new mom?

Impressive BFing skills! I'm proud of my patience. It gets stretched thin between DS, DH, family and 18 kindergartners, but usually manages to stay intact. GL on the rest of your trip!

  • I'm proud that I got both kids on the same nap schedule
  • I too am proud of my patience. I am also proud that I can take care of both kids and maintain a somewhat clean house.
  • I'm proud that I can transfer DS from car seat to crib without waking him up.

I am proud that I have kept pumping even though we've EP since about 4 weeks.  It is exhausting and annoying, but totally worth it.
  • Impressive! My boobs are so small I can barely nurse lying down. I can do it, but I can't move a muscle until he's done.

I'm proud that we were able to move to EBF after 7-8 weeks of expressed milk/formula, low supply, bad latch, and destroyed nips. It was a LOT of work, but I'm so glad we did it.

  • Yay! We made it. 22+hrs total... It's not over because we are waiting for the keys to get into the house, but we are done driving and she is free of the car seat. DH rocks and is on 20 min of sleep, he drove the entire way.

Congrats mommas on all the accomplishments! Enjoy the day!!

  • I'm proud of my patience. I've never been a patient person and I have gained a huge amount of patience being a mom. I never have felt frustrated with my LO like I anticipated I would. (The only time was when I was super sick when he was 3 weeks old and couldn't pick him up when he was crying. I was frustrated with myself that I couldn't care for him, I ended up in the hospital for 3 nights a couples hours later with a bad viral infection) He has taught me a love I never knew existed. I never freak out when he spits up all over my hair, I usually feel bad for him bc it's not fun to puke up all your food! Sorry for the long post, I'm feeling so overwhelmed with happiness today that I just ramble on! Happy Mothers Day! :)
