Ok, so we went to new city, on the other side of the country, to find a new house last week. We are also getting married, starting a new job and having a baby all in the same few months, so there is a little stress in our lives right now. There were only 4 houses that met our criteria in our budget and we liked one. We made an offer and a few days later we were told that it was not even presented to seller as an offer 20k higher than ours had been rejected and this person doesn't negotiate. So, we make a higher offer (close to asking) and wait. Today we find out there was another offer that was lower than ours and he countered but they dropped their offer - what happened to not negotiating? So, we are the highest offer but now they don't like our lender - even though he is very reputable, he is not local. I need this house! We also finalized wedding details while we were there, but I just didn't get into it much as I was just anxious about the house. Ok, done now.

Re: Vent- buying a house
Maybe if your out of state lender is an issue, your realtor could recommend a reputable lender in your new area. It would be annoying to submit all the paperwork again, but it might be worth it if it helps you get a house in the new area faster! Good luck and I hope it all works out soon!
I understand the home buying process. With being out of town is even harder.
