Hi ladies -
I know it's normal to have swollen feet and hands during pregnancy, but until 2 days ago, that just appeared at night for me and was gone by the morning. In the last couple of days, the swelling on one of my feet won't go down. Is anyone else experiencing that? Anything that can be done? I can barely fit my foot into my shoes!
Re: Swollen feet :(
It's possible it won't get much better until after your baby is born. I reached the point of no return at about 35 weeks. But all swelling was completely gone a week after my son was born :-)
Sounds pretty normal, but no harm in running it past your doc to be safe. Generally, you want to worry when it's sudden, and/or very uneven swelling.
My right foot has been slightly more swollen ever since it started. Most likely I stand with more weight on that foot, or the baby is shifted that way and putting more pressure on that side's blood vessels.
Feel better. Right now my left hand is pins and needles.
Also, if you get fluids during delivery, your swelling could be even worse after you have your LO and continue for up to 2 weeks.
God Bless You my Little One

Will just lend some handy input for warning signs to look for (I'm a physician assistant in the ER). It's normal to have one side swell slightly more than the other, but any significant change in size from one lower extremity compared to the other is more worrisome. Pregnancy is a high-hormone state which increases your risk for blood clots. Significant swelling on one side along with possible thigh/calf pain, redness of the skin, or skin that noticeably warmer to touch than the other side are all symptoms of a blood clot. If this starts to occur, please call your doctor and/or go to the ER for an ultrasound of your leg to rule out a DVT.
