Since yesterday I have had two instances where I wipe and there is a smudge of red blood on the paper. I called the after-hours doctor for my clinic who doesn't seem to be concerned. He asked if I heard a heartbeat at my last sono and how far along I was (180 at 8 wks). He went on to say chances of a miscarriage are so low right now he believes its the placenta implanting in the uterus is causing the tiny bit of blood. Have you all ever heard of this? I don't google anymore, but thought you all would be able to provide very knowledgable information on this. I have some mild cramping, but I can't help but think this is the beginning of the end. He said to call him back if the bleeding became consistent or if the cramping was more "moderate" rather than mild. It has not. I had been doing so well emotionally and now I'm turning into a wreck again. I don't know how I'll even celebrate mother's day now with thoughts of an impending miscarriage. I would appreciate any advice or experience.
Thank ladies.

UPDATE: Well, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong as my spotting was not letting up and this morning went to the ER. We discovered we lost our precious baby shortly after my last ultrasound. I wasn't given much information other than follow-up with my doctor. I'll call him tomorrow morning and see where we go from here. I'm not sure if I can naturally miscarry or if I will need a D&C, but would sure appreciate any advice you ladies have to offer. My mind is cloudy so if you all can offer advice on what I should ask my doctor tomorrow as well I would really appreciate that. Does repeat loss testing usually happen after 2 or 3 miscarriages? Should I for go my OB and go to an RE from here? Any advice is appreciated.
I want to wish you all healthy pregnancies and hope to join you all soon.

*All are welcome in my posts*I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope your heart can heal in time.
I would ask about RPL testing if you want to. Sometimes insurance requires 3 losses, but not always. I was able to see a RE after my 2nd loss & had no insurance troubles.

I am so incredibly sorry for your second loss
. How devastating.
Regarding miscarriages: with my two singleton losses I have had a D&C. Mine were a bit later, and both times my OB/GYNs were fairly adamant about going that route. I feel like 8 weeks is a bit of a gray area, and they might give you choice (D&C, natural, drug induced). Since you have started bleeding a bit on your own, you might want to see what your body does over the next few days. However, I know how torturous it is to continue with an unviable pregnancy for any length of time, so if you decide you can't deal with that I completely empathize.
As for repeat loss testing, most insurances require 3 losses. Some even say 3 consecutive losses. For me, we did the RLT after 3 miscarriages (not consecutive).
At this point, with one chemical and one 8 week loss, I wouldn't let your mind go too crazy with an RE. If you get RLT done, and they find some issues (clotting, genetics), then you might get a referral to go over your treatment options moving forward. However, even after 3 missed miscarriages, I did not go to an RE after my last loss. I had been down that road (DD was an IVF/ICSI baby) and I just simply wasn't willing to be poked and prodded like that again. If I were you (which I'm not, I'm just trying to give you my own honest advice), I probably would try and take a deep breath and speak candidly with your OB when you see them. Ask them about RLT. If you feel strongly about having it done now, you might be able to pay OOP (I have no idea the cost, but some things are worth the peace of mind). Or you might have a doctor that will code repeat loss after 2.
All this to say, try to take this one thing at a time. This is a lot to process. Your OB should be able to guide you, and we'll be here if you have questions. I'm so sorry
.
