2nd Trimester

Do I weight to much already...!

I know it shouldn't matter but I want to ensure I'm being smart ... I started at 125, in 18 weeks and I'm 140 now ... Be honest... I feel a little bit over the mark

Re: Do I weight to much already...!

  • The ob didn't seem to concerned . She didn't say anything about my weight . I'm 5'5

  • Talk to your doctor. This is my third pregnancy and I tend to steadily gain throughout my pregnancies. I'm 17 weeks and have gained 13 pounds. My doctor isn't concerned in the least. My blood pressure is great and I'm still exercising. My best advice is to not compare your weight gain to others and discuss it with your doctor.
  • Thanks ladies ... Exercise espically cardio is hard for me right now ... I'm in the process of finding out if I've fractured my foot ! Lovely eh! Oh the joys lol. I have been doing weight training still .
Again thanks ladies !! You are all awesome !

If your doctor didn't seem concerned I wouldn't be, but that doesn't mean go crazy. I would try to cut back on sweets or junk if that is in your current diet. Everyone is different, but you don't want to gain a ton and have a hard time getting rid of it later. GL with your foot!

If your doctor isn't concerned, I wouldn't be. Much of your weight is baby, fluid, uterus, etc. You lose alot of it when you have the baby.

I know people who've gained like 13lbs their whole pregnancy, and some who've gained 60 and all were just fine!

I'm overweight, and this is my first pregnancy, and my doctor said I should try and not gain more than 15 pounds through the pregnancy. The more you weigh to begin, the less you generally should be gaining or WILL gain.

Realistically, as long as your doctor isn't concerned, you shouldn't be concerned. I couldn't eat much the first trimester so I actually lost a couple pounds, and I haven't gained any yet, and I'm at 15 weeks tomorrow. BUT, I'm also eating smaller portions and healthier than I was before, so that makes a difference.

     It's a BOY! Est. Due Date - October 17th

  • I started at 130lbs. At 26 weeks I'm 144. My doc already had a talk with me that I'm gaining too much. Guess what? I don't care.
  • That does seem like a lot. Have you had an ultra sound? I wonder if you have a lot of water weight

I am 18 weeks and have not gained a thing however with my first baby I put on a wopping 95lbs and the aftermath was pretty bad, it took me about 3 years to loose it all, excerizing 3 days a week is entirely safe and remember to eat clean and add only 300 extra calories a day. Regaurdless your body is going to do what it wants good luck~

So you're up 14 lbs at 26 weeks? Presuming a gain of 1 lb/ week for the rest of your pregnancy, that's about 30 lbs total..... well within the "average range" of 25-35 lbs ... what am I missing?

  • I'm 5'5'' 27 years old started out at 125lbs and at my 21 week appointment was already at 146lbs. I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and I haven't weighed myself but I feel like I've gained a little more... Of course I am growing another human so it's to be expected. With my first I gained 60... Yes 60 pounds!!! I was 115 to start. I'm doing better this time around and as stressed out as I get I remind myself that it's OK!! Seriously, stop stressing yourself. Make good choices with what you eat and how much exersize you're comfortable with. It'll come off after baby.

Just steer clear of French onion soup. Apparently if you eat it once a day you will retain more water than the freaking titanic ;)
  • I started at 145lb (5'6btw) and at my last check up I only weighed 148lb. I haven't really been sick this pregnancy and I definitely don't hold back on eating. My doctors telling me I'm not eating enough. I'm 20 weeks today and have another check up coming up next week (and my ultrasound yay!) So let's see what he says this time.
  • But I've definitely got the baby bump and don't feel small. On the contrary I feel quite whale like these days so I have no clue why I haven't gained. Ah well..
  • If your dr isn't concerned I wouldn't be either.
