No pics but this is my first Mother's Day and even though I wasn't excited leading up to it so far I have gotten everything I wanted. My SO is off today, I got my first ever breakfast in bed and my boys are entertaining each other and making me smile from ear to ear.
This is my 5th Mother's Day as a mommy. So far today, DH brought me flowers and an Oprah Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks. I have been wanting to try one so bad, lol, & we are headed to MiL's house in a few minutes for a beautiful brunch with all the mommy's in the family.
happily married since 2009, SAHM diagnosed with unexplained infertility, regular cycles Baby #1: ttc naturally for 3 years, 6 yr old daughter Baby #2: ttc naturally for 2 years, 2 yr old son Baby #3: ttc naturally since August 2016
This is my first Mothers Day! I wasn't expecting anything but so far I have been spoiled ! It's been a special day, as I get to share it with my mom and watch her love on her first grand baby. Tonight we are going to attempt going out to a nice dinner with LO
Third Mother's Day with a baby I can hold, fourth since losing my first pregnancy.
Two kids that I can play with.
DD2 gave me a huge smile just before I fed her this morning. The 4 of us are just back from a walk on the beach & playing at the playground. DH ordered me a charm from restoration hardware baby with the new baby's initial to add to a bangle that already has DD1's on it. ILs will come for dinner later.
This is my 4th Mother's Day. I have 2 beautiful girls. DH and DD1 made me breakfast in bed. I also got a cookie cake, an amazon kindle gift card and a gift certificate to get my nails done.
DH did all diaper changes last night so I didn't have to get out of bed, even though I didn't actually get any extra sleep (thanks, dog). He also got me a very nice backpack (diaper bag) and is staying home with M this afternoon so I can go to the range and start regaining what I lost after months of not being able to practice.
First Mother's Day! DH made brunch (banana choc chip pancakes, sausage and fruit salad), popped open a bottle of Veuve Cliquot, got roses and chocolates and will hopefully get a good nap in! And we are getting sushi for dinner!
@maelic I would be lying if I said I didn't chuckle a little bit about the multiple children card, but he should know he needs to more than make up for forgetting your first Mother's Day! Bad husband! Make him do something fun with you today.
February Siggy Challenge: Favorite TV couple ~ Jim & Pam
First mother's day, and I'm only 6 days post partum so I can't even handle it. Everything is making me cry. Got some cards from friends and family that probably would have made me roll my eyes pre-baby, and now they make me sob. Sang DS to sleep after breakfast, and I cried. Husband tried to give me a gift, cried and told him I couldn't handle it just then and to try later. Crying at every commercial. Crying just looking at my sweet boy. All happy tears, it's just too emotional with the hormone changes going on right now to think about all the implications of being a mom!
First Mother's Day. Husband forgot. I got an emergency card from cvs which talks about having multiple children.
We were going to garden but he's decided we need to clean out the shed instead. Which is necessary but work, we were supposed to do something fun.
I'm tempted to just go back to bed.
At least you got a card- mine just didn't get one because he couldn't find a "new mom" one.
I got a gift shoved into a baby shower gift bag he found in the closet. We're headed to my moms now so hopefully things will look up a bit. Yesterday my mother in law gave me a beautiful heart shaped necklace with a magnetic charm of lo's picture in the hospital on it.
DH got me a bracelet from Tiffany's with two diamonds, one for each kid, and a heart in the middle for us. Plus a card. DS picked out some flowers at the nursery yesterday and I got a card from him too.
We had a rough night with DD lastnight. She didn't want to sleep at all. I ended up crying from frustration and exhaustion. So DH took morning shift and gave me a few hours sleep. The in laws took DS over night and are bringing him back at dinner for us all to eat together.
First Mother's Day. DH did all the feedings and diaper changes last night with Baby Girl. He brought her to me this morning fed, clean, and wearing a First Mother's Day onesie. He made us a cinnamon coffee cake for breakfast and we went to church. Going to FaceTime with my mom in a bit and then ILs are coming for dinner. Great Day!
First Mother's Day! DD woke up at 5am and wouldn't go back to sleep but it's okay because she was super smiley all morning. DH got me a Pandora charm with her birthstone and a little baby carriage and a gift certificate for a facial and massage. I'm so excited to get a massage and treat myself before I go back to work. We're just getting home from buying dahlias for our pots outside and I'm drinking an Oreo coffee coolatta. I'm having a perfect day so far!
I'm having a lovely first Mother's Day! We walked to a local café, the snoogum let me eat an entire meal without crying, and now we're going out shopping and then to meet my dad for dinner. It'll be our longest day out with the LO yet. Later we plan to do a handprint keepsake kit DH bought.
DH is working until 3 am and I said no gifts. Headed to my mom's for dinner so I'm looking forward to that!
Little Q and I are just chillin in the meantime-Mamma Mia is on TV.
Totally watching mama Mia too, one if my faves my 4th Mother's Day, DH is working 12 hours today. Just got back from brunch with my brother and mom and Aislyn and I are chillin on the couch while big brother naps.
I have to give DH credit for this one- he's totally great at this Mothers Day stuff.
This is my 2nd Mothers Day and I have two kids! Typing that really drove home 2U2 for me.... Wow
So far my day has been great. DH got up with DD1 so I could try and stay in bed with DD2. Then he went out at got me fresh bagels and cream cheese across town from a place I like. During breakfast I was presented with 3 cards and gifts from the two girls and the dog...lol. The dog got me chocolate covered almonds and the girls each got me a charm with their initial for my bracelet. Next we went for a family outing/picnic at a local park. DH bought all my favourites and got up early to prepare and pack everything. I just had to show up. Then when we got home he put DD1 down for her nap. Tonight he is picking me up takeout for dinner from my favorite restaurant.
I feel so spoiled - but I also feel bad because there is no way I can pull something like this off for fathers day!
Jealous of all you ladies with thoughtful DH's. This is my first Mother's Day.
I woke up to a screaming baby and DH holding him saying he pooped and threw up all over him. So I got to clean them both up and get us all ready for church which we didn't attend because LO was not cooperating. Now were at the IL's for the day and I'm sure they will make dinner for us. And my DH just spilled a bottle of breast milk all over me. Cool. At least my FIL got me a box of chocolates. My DH is usually okay about holidays even if he doesn't like them. Don't know what is up his ass today.
I hope everyone else is having a great Mother's Day
First Mother's Day! My husband woke me up with breakfast in bed; pancakes and sausages . Then he brought out a platter with a bunch of chocolate dipped strawberries, bananas, melons, and apples. The strawberries said mom. I cried. He had even tried to make it into a fruit bouquet, bless his heart, but it didn't work out. I got a card from him and my sweet daughter ( also cried) and a necklace that says mom. I slept in until 11 and now snuggling with my baby.
This is my first Mother's Day and it's just me, DH and little Elise. I didn't get really any sleep last night with LO (camping on the couch...), but my DH was very sweet.
DH made banana bourbon French toast, bought me my favorite color roses, and "Elise" got me a gift certificate to Massage Envy. Oh happy day! DH has been doing most of the diaper changes today (bonus)... I can't tell if the kitchen will be cleaned from the yummy breakfast, or if dinner is still on me... But I'll take my DH's sweet gestures any day. He's kinda in a funky mood, and he pulled his back out on Friday, so the rest of the day he's been losing steam. Ah well. His greatest Mother's Day gift was his sperm 10 months ago, so there ya go!
Mother's Day is one of those days I don't really care about that much- probably my own mother stresses me out so this day usually isn't without some sort of guilt or stress.
We took my mom to brunch- I got my MIL a locket with a picture of DD and SS in it (the Third child is already being left out of things! Lol)
From DH and the kids I got a shadow box for the baby, I'm really excited about it. It's one of those gifts I always wanted to but just never got it for myself so I'm happy to have one! I want to get one for DD too. I think this is my 4th Mother's Day. We weren't married before I had DD so I don't think SS would have done anything before that.
Sounds like many of you are having a great day- so amazing!
@maelic you should def go back to bed and relax you deserve it!
I've been utterly spoiled all weekend! We traveled to my grandmother's house Friday morning and my parents met us as well. We spent Saturday morning at the zoo and then my mom and I got pedicures together. DS had a really horribly gassy afternoon / night, but I had loads of great help from everyone. We had a lovely dinner last night and DS ended up sleeping 5 hour stretch after all that fussing! DH made me breakfast in bed and let me sleep until 8:30! He bought me, my mom, and my grandmother gorgeous flowers. The "kiddos' gift" was a ticket to the Beyonce / Jay Z concert this summer -- SO jazzed! Back home now and everyone is napping well! Will do froyo and Greek food this afternoon.
First Mother's Day is not going well so far. I've had one sobbing melt-down and one long trip to my SO's parents' house where I cried silently to myself I'm the back seat with the baby the entire 45 minute drive. Before I start majorly bitching out the details I'm going to take a nap & see if today gets any better. Update to follow...
Mine first Mother's Day has been kind of crappy so far. DH wouldn't help at all overnight. He was "too tired". Ef that. Tried to get him out of bed to shower for church but he dragged his heels and took so damn long that I couldn't wash my hair, (LO spit up in it earlier). Then I got spit up on Real bad and it went all over my shoulder and chest so I had to do a quick rinse while DH bitched about how we were going to be late for Church.... Got to church (on time since I have mad skills at taking 10 minutes to get ready) and things calmed down. Trying to nap at my parents house now while they play with Penny. Having a family BBQ later. No gift from DH but I did get a card with my daughters names misspelled. Lol. That really just makes me laugh though.
I have 3 kids, aged 3 and under, was up 6 times last night between all of them-baby only woke once. I got a serger (I've been longing for I one for over a year) and a new camera bag. DH made breakfast and MIL made a late lunch, so no cooking for me! Way better than last year-had to go to church solo, DS wasn't sleeping at night, and DH took a long afternoon nap while I watched the kids.
Not getting any better. SO planned nothing. Not a damn thing. I finally asked for doughnuts and he went out and came home with the ones he likes but the wrong ones for me. Then he takes the card I bought for HIM to give HIS mother and signs it from the baby and the dogs and GIVES IT BACK TO ME.
I generally love holidays, they are a really big deal to me, and I've been talking about how excited I was for Mother's Day since before LO got here. Then, when I start crying and tell him how disappointed I am, he tells me I'm a spoiled brat and I should just be thankful we have a healthy baby - throwing it up in my face that two friends of mine recently had a loss. He doesn't even know them and had little to no sympathy when I was grieving for them earlier in the week. I don't even know what to do. I cannot stop crying.
First Mother's Day for me, and it's been a great one so far! Woke up to my favorite Starbucks coffee, blueberry scone and a fun custom made card with pictures of me and baby all over it! My husband did good! I then spent the rest of the day with my mom, sister and little guy
Sorry to all of those having crappy Mother's Days!! I wish I could slap some sense into some of your husbands/SOs. Good grief.
I'm jealous of all the husbands that know how to cook and made meals for everyone who got one! I don't think that'll ever be part of my gift no matter how amazing that would be. lol
@kielpinskim I'm glad you got what you wanted, but what's a serger??
@eme520 I can relate to the difficulty breastfeeding, so I understand how that can be the biggest gift of all! So happy for you.
My husband got me everything in the pic below. I love candy and watching movies, so this was a perfect gift for me. I had lost Crazy, Stupid Love somehow. It's one of my favorite movies, and he remembered that and got it for me! We woke up earlier than we hoped for, so we all just woke up from a wonderful 2-hour nap. Now I'm nursing baby girl in just her diaper, hehe. I love how close I feel to her when we're skin-to-skin. :x

I've had a pretty good day. I made it very clear to DH that I needed him to do something special for Mother's Day haha...I told him that all I wanted was a clean house and well, I didn't get that but DH bought an edible arrangement and a massage gift card instead. I'll take it!

Had our first baby, Samuel Robert, on April 17, 2014!
What you got/did: We went out for brunch and to the park. Low key and perfect! I got a MK bracelet and matching earrings. The real gift will be when my 2.5 year old goes to bed without making a fuss. I'm a little annoyed tha DH is heading to the gym tonight but whatever. I got to sleep in til 8:30 so I don't care.
Hope all of you had great days - especially all you FTMs!!!
My first Mother's Day was pretty awesome. Woke up to DH wearing the baby and making breakfast. He made me a shadow box filled with photos of LO and I that he had taken and I'd never seen. So sweet.
We hosted a lunch for my mom, sister, Mil, Sil and my Aunt and cousins who were in from out of town. Everyone brought components of the meal, so we just ended up making sangria. It was amazing to visit with all of my ladies and get a little day drinking on.
Going to BBQ tonight followed by a stop at the ice cream shop for a little hot fudge sundae action. And maybe, if the stars align, a little action of the grown up type tonight!
DH got me the leather "diaper bag" (it's really a tote) that I've been wanting from Madewell and two cards.. One from him and one from baby. Then we went to lunch and shared some fatty Mexican food and I finally got to have a margarita.. And if was amazing. I wanted to have three of them haha! Diet starts tomorrow DS slept the entire time we were out, thank god! I'm so sorry for those of you having a bad day
Second Mothers Day (was heavily pregnant for a third but I don't count it until I have an outside baby), 2 kids.
DH got up with DS1 (buuut...he does this just about every day ) and let me sleep with the baby while they worked on a craft project for me. Later we all went for a walk and then came home for lunch. I got a nearly 2 hour nap while the boys both slept. After they woke up, DH took Ds1 to the park while I stayed home and ate half a Costco sized container of chocolate covered raisins while snuggling the baby and reading a book. Just got the toddler to bed early and about to watch last night's Eurovision final while drinking some wine.
Nothing huge, but lots of nice little moments! I got flowers yesterday in baskets to hang on the patio as well.
It's my 1st Mother's Day as a biological mama 2nd as a step mama:) our 2 year old spent the morning with us as it is our weekend so we had her until 2 and let her mom take her early. They let me sleep in this morning everyone was clean and changed before I got up. Money is tight so I told my SO no presents but he got me a sweet card. We had a BBQ at my moms with my family it was a beautiful day:)
This is my first Mother's Day and I was completely surprised with a pair of diamond earrings. I was sent on a mini scavenger hunt to find them! So sweet and perfect! I also got a nap in which was equally as sweet!:)
Josie came only two weeks ago, so Mother's Day kind of took both DH and I by surprise what with caring for a newborn and all. I opted to stay home since NIPing isn't happening yet. DH is out getting sushi right now, and brought home a nice bottle of wine.
For presents, I'd told DH I wanted necklaces to commemorate being a new mom. Actually, I told him this before Josie was born, because I've gotten fond of wearing a simple pendant for every day since running the Nike Half Marathon and getting their necklace as a finish prize. But that was a few years ago now, and that was my biggest accomplishment to date until now. So I'm getting a necklace for Mother's Day, and one for our anniversary (which is at the end of this month).
Mother's Day necklace:
Anniversary necklace, in rose gold, with Josie's name:
Memory: going to church for the first time, and seeing my daughter's name on a name tag for when we decide to leave her to the nursery. Dawwww!
ETA: Holy cow! DH just surprised me in a big way! Apparently he remembered me saying a long time ago how special it was that I had a pearl necklace growing up that my dad bought for me when I was born. We were poor growing up, and somewhere along the way it got sold, but I always thought it was special. So DH decided to get Josie and I matching pendants with her birthstone for Mother's Day! Normal chain for me, tiny chain for her until she gets bigger. It's so sweet and sentimental, I'm all weepy. So now I guess the elephant necklace is just because, and the
diamonds are for Josie and my first Mother's day. Love love love that she has a special gift from her daddy.
