Should I invest in a nursing pillow?

I do plan to at least try to nurse the twins. But the first few weeks of nursing my singleton were very stressful. We ended up figuring it out eventually and nursed for 7+ months. But I do not want to stress myself out the way I did before, on top if all the other double newborn chaos. Worst case, I will be pumping. I did pretty well with that when I went back to work the last time.

With this in mind, is it worth investing in a My Brest Friend? Will that actually take some of the stress out of it and make things easier? I already have 2 Boppies, so I was going to start with those and see how it went.

  • I use the boppies when nursing one at a time. They are also helpful for propping babies. If you think you'd like to tandem feed, the my brest friend is really helpful for tandem feeding when they are small and can't support their heads.

  • I used the twinz pillow. And that was good for tandem nursjng PLUS double tummy time, tandem bottle feeding and sitting practice. I would recommend this multi use pillow. imageimage

  • Twin Z also. It was awesome for nursing (now I EP) and tandem feedings and interacting with them when they are both awake.

(I can pump and feed them at the same time)

  • I have the MBF and use it to tandem. I used a boppy to tandem them in the NICU and hated it. It was too floppy and not enough support for the babies. The MBF is really firm and I felt much more stable. It's not a multitasker, though.

I bought a brest friend fully intending to nurse, but we had early babies with NICU time, latch issues & I was sick and didnt have enough milk for 2. I pumped 6 weeks then switched to formula. I never used my pillow and wish I'd held off getting it. I do use my regular boppies all the time though.

  • I bought the MBF used for like $25 and it has served me well. I'm not good at tandem feeding, but I like having the extra space for the baby to stretch out. In the early days I pretty much wore it all the time and used it as extra support when holding babies in my lap all day long.

  • I bought one and its still in the box. Babies are 6 mo. I couldn't get them to latch well and with a 2.5 yr old I gave up. I am still EPing. Diapers.com has an excellent 1 yr return policy. Not always the cheapest but quick 2 day shipping and they take everything back. Now I just need to find the time to print the return label & get it to UPS.
  • I ne er got the knack of tandem nursing. I had a single MBF pillow, and it was so much better than the Boppies!
