I just found out I'm pregnant again after a MMC in march. I was 10 weeks preg, but u/s showed that the baby had never made it 5-6 weeks. I got my BFP Thursday using a clear blue with weeks indicator. It puts me at 4-5 weeks preg. I haven't called my doc yet. Kind of waiting the next week out to see if anything happens.
Feeling happy-ish, but mostly just uneasy. Part of me wants to call and get betas checked, but with my last one, I had serial betas done when I had spotting at 5 weeks and they were rising perfectly. That's why we didn't catch the MC until I started bleeding again at 10 weeks. So I really don't see the point and would rather wait and get an u/s done when the heartbeat should be visible. Is that silly?
Anyways, happy to be here and hoping we can help each other shake off the nerves!

Welcome! Congrats on your BFP
.
I totally relate to wondering what the point of betas are. I also don't get a whole lot of comfort from first trimester ultrasounds because to this point, all of my losses have been after seeing a heartbeat at 8ish weeks.
There is no right or wrong answer to how much monitoring you should have. It is really between you and your OB. Your OB can tell you what they feel is the best course. For me, because I am on progesterone suppositories, my OB wanted to run betas and have several first trimester ultrasounds because it would be against his standard of care to be "supporting a pregnancy that wasn't proven viable". I chatted with my close girlfriend who is an OB, and she agreed with that statement. So I have had betas this time, had an u/s at 5w4d (that showed nothing but a sac), and will have another u/s this week at 7w4d.
Obviously everyone's situation is different. If you are not on progesterone and your OB is flexible, do whatever is going to keep you mentally in a good place. For some that is a lot of hand-holding and monitoring. For others, it is to just chug along and not have worry about the call with blood tests or what is going to be seen on an early u/s.
Best wishes to you!
