Memorial Service - Clothing advice

We are going to a Memorial Service in June that is not super formal.  I found this dress and think both of my girls * & 11) would wear it.  Is it too casual?  Also, they don't have to match but I am a lazy shopper.

Re: Memorial Service - Clothing advice

  • I know you said it's not formal, but that seems like a play dress to me.
You are probably right although my kids never wear dresses especially not to play in .  I need to just take them shopping and look.  I don't want fancy because they will complain the whole time and it is going to be hot as hell.  But I don't want a sundress really either.

  • I think it's fine.

FWIW, I didn't even wear my own clothes to my mother's funeral. She died unexpectedly while I was visiting. I borrowed clothes from my SIL.
I wasn't about to buy something I wouldn't likely wear again, when I had clothes at home.
    (Sorry, a bit morbid...)

Not at all, I get that.
  • I think it will be fine especially since you said it's not formal, plus they're kids.
  • It think it's really casual. Dd wore a navy blue eyelet dress to DS' memorial service in March. What about these?

I think it's a little too casual, I like the option #1 that @Lexusolsen posted.

  • Too casual. I find that JCrew and JCrew Factory have good casual dresses that aren't TOO casual.
  • Thank you @LalaMama81  I love that dress. Both colors are great too.  I don't want black because it is a celebration of DH's Aunt's life and I think they would stand out dressed in black if that makes sense.  It will be more of a party than a funeral.  I will check our JCrew as well.

  • Sorry, I think it is too casual. I understand that you want your girls to be comfortable, but there are levels of comfort.  I think the second dress Lexus posted, or the dress that Lala posted would be perfect.  Between the two, I think the second dress from Lexus would be more comfortable.  It moves freely and is a lightweight material.
