Measuring Ahead

At this week's checkup doc said I am measuring a week ahead and that baby weighs 2 lbs 11 oz already. Im 27 weeks and I'm a FTM so I'm just wondering does this mean I'm going to have a huge baby??? Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker}

    I usually measure 1-2 weeks ahead too. My OB told me he was afraid to give me a size estimate for DS1 and he ended up being 8lbs 0.7oz.

    I wouldn't worry about it. They can be very off.

  • I was about a week and a half ahead at my last appointment, I'm also only 5 foot nothing and I think it's because I have a very small upper body so he needs to be able to grow somewhere so he's going out. Of course that's just my opinion.

    This is what my dr told me. I'm currently measuring a week ahead and she said I'm just petite. My torso is compact so there is no where for baby to go but out.

  • My first two always measured about 2 weeks ahead.  The first was 6 lbs 14 oz when born at 37 weeks and the second was 7 lbs 8 oz when born at 38 weeks.

    I always take measurements with a grain of salt until the baby is here.
  • They insisted my son was going to be a 10lb baby....  He was 7lb 14oz

    Those measurements are just flat inaccurate  I wouldn't worry about it

    My last ultrasound, at 22 weeks, baby was in 91% for growth. Ditto PP's, measurements can certainly be off at this point. Take it with a grain of salt and don't worry!

  • Fundal height measurements can be off.

    Ultrasounds may be more accurate but there is still a lot of time for growth. The reason they do first tri ultrasound dating is because that's when it's most accurate. After the first tri the growth rates vary too much to determine dates and sizes well.
