Happy Mothers day Ladies

Since the board is so quiet lately - a little Friday discussion to pep it up.

What's your ideal Mothers Day and if you do gifts what is it that you would love to see your baby daddy get for you?

I go back and forth on an ideal day. Earlier this week they were calling for rain on Sunday and truthfully the ideal day looked like a day laying in bed all day watching bad tv and just relaxing (can you tell that's the thing I miss most about pre-parent life?!?!?) Now that it's going to be nice I feel like we should take advantage. I'm not sure what I want to do, maybe a casual brunch (does that exist on Mothers Day?) and I love the thought of hitting a new winery for a bit. One thing is for sure - my ideal day is just the three of us....I'll see my mom tomorrow and want family time on Mothers Day.

As for a gift - last year DH got me a ring with LO's birthstone. I absolutely love it, I call it my most prized possession because in addition to being beautiful, it reminds me that we beat IF and have an amazing little girl..... It's pretty much impossible to top, and I don't want/need him to. An ideal gift this year would probably be a new camera..... But I haven't even mentioned to him that I want one, so no expectations!

DH is not really big on actual gifts, but he has randomly surprised me in the past. He is planning something for us to do so that will be nice, I'm just not sure what it is.

My ideal day would be doing something with the three of us where I don't have to cook or clean at all. And sleeping in a little would be nice, too. Last year we pretty much did what my MIL wanted to do, and on top of that, she didn't even wish me a happy mother's day. So one thing I don't want to do is spend the day with them. That sounds so mean but it's my day too, damn it!!

I did see a bag at the Coach outlet that I wouldn't mind either

@CCAM - I hear ya - my ideal mothers day is NOT having to see my MIL

DH has never wanted to do anything with her on MD though - even before we had Molly, so I happily just go with it!

@JBDamonM I wish!! My MIL has this way of making DH feel bad enough that he does stuff he never wanted to do. She's a child! Guaranteed I fold and we end up at least stopping by there.

This is only my 2nd Mother's Day, so not sure what I really want/get out of this day. Ideal would be myself being selfish - if I can have the house all to myself (ie, DH takes DS out for the day) so I can lie around doing nothing. And not have to cook/clean etc. But think that is selfish to not spend Mother's Day with DS however.

Anyhoo, this is the first year in decades that DH lives in the same vicinity as his parents (my ILs moved close to us last Fall). So I feel obligated to invited ILs over to our place on Mother's Day. It's going to be far from my ideal but guess that's what life is.

Gift-wise, a card would be nice. And I told DH that already.

I'd love a few hours at the spa! Body treatment, mani/pedi and then late lunch at the fondue restaurant! Then I'd cuddle baby cakes and put her down for bed and watch a rented movie with DH on the couch while I drink too much wine!!

What a loaded question.. my weekend is so busy that DH, Hannah and I all went out for a nice brunch last Sunday. It was just perfect.

This Sunday I'm pretty sure DH is planning breakfast in bed, that'll be fun with Hannah lol. Saturday we are spending time with my mom. I work Sunday 9-2. Hubby's grandmother is doing a brunch thing at her boat club, (so glad I'm working). Then his mom is having everybody over for dinner at her house. (it frustrates me that his family is dominating the whole dang day

) Anyways, I told hubby that I wasn't coming to his mom's till after 4. I plan on getting off work, going and having a bath while reading. Something I have not been able to do for quite a while. Then I want to leave his mom's earlyish (tell them something about Hannah needing to be in bed) and just veg with hubby.

Oh I forgot to mention, DH bought me a new kitchen table and chairs for mother's day like back in March lol.

I told him I wanted him to do some type of craft thing with Hannah for me for mother's day. I don't have high expectations on that lol

Ideal day would be sleeping in, picnic in the park just the three of us, and a couple of hours alone to do whatever I want with. That will never happen though.

DH and I never celebrated Mother's or Father's day as kids with our families, I mean we told our parents Happy Mother's/Father's Day but nothing past that. I was a little hurt when DH didn't do a single thing last year for my first. I thought that after everything we went through, he might do something special but nope. I gave him a few ideas for this year but I don't know if he'll run with them or not. We are going to sea world tomorrow with my SIL/BIL and niece, who is also an IVF baby. I'm super excited about that!!

Ideal day would be sleeping in a bit, snuggling with S in bed after she gets up, and getting to be lazy all day. I think we're going out of town to our favorite restaurant for brunch and then to a vineyard that has music on Sunday afternoons. I'm sure it will be crowded. Hopefully not too hot. Or rainy.

Ideally I would be able to sleep in and he would take lead and stay on lead with D all day and we would do some fun family stuff without any fighting but since he is working 4am-11am I am out of luck. I am just hoping D is a good toddler on Sunday. We are going out to breakfast with my mom and dad.

Last year, he took my infant son and went to see MIL and that highly pissed me off.

He did get me a spa day where I get a massage, facial, mani/pedi... I only agreed to that because we have a 40% off coupon

My ideal day is exactly what we are doing this year - croissant French toast for breakfast (mmmm!) and family time with our parents, bbqing, smoking ribs and swimming in the pool. That's a perfect day to me

Sleeping in would be nice, but not possible this year since I'm nursing. Then having my family join me at Mass (and having good Mass behavior) would be next. We have a tradition of going to a local park for a picnic; we rotate between parks with gardens and parks with views. This is a garden year.

I will be buying a couple of trees for our yard and was thinking of counting them as my Mother's Day gift.

I would really love it if my DH bought me a corsage to wear to Mass. How nerdy is that?

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

My ideal Mother's Day would be to enjoy a delicious lunch out and do something fun as a family. I got my wish! We are going to Shake Shack for lunch and then tang G to the Children's Museum for the first time. It's in the Seaport and today is 80 and sunny so I'm excited to go for a walk on the harbor, too!

No gifts for us, although I did ask DH for a Jennifer Meyer initial necklace once baby #2 is born, I'd like to have one with both my LOs initials. So I'm looking forward to getting that gift as a Christmas/Birthday/Mother's day/special occasion gift in the future.
